Kediri Co-Wives Competition

Mar 17th, 2010, in IM Posts, by David

Co-wives battle it out in Kediri elections while their husband takes a well earned rest.

The Regent of Kediri, East Java, Sutrisno/Soetrisno, steps down in August 2010 and is not seeking re-election however his two wives have decided to run in the race for his replacement as Regent, for the period 2010-2015.

Haryanti, his first and official wife, who is a medical practitioner, seems to have won the support of Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP), PKNU, Hanura, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), and Golkar, while his second, nikah siri, wife, Nurlaila, not wanting to be left out of things, is standing on behalf of Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) and two dozen minor parties.

A third candidate, who is not married to the Regent and is a man, named Sunardi, is supported by Partai Demokrat and Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB), and likely vies for the frontrunner position with Haryanti.

One commentator in Kediri, Munasir Huda, representing a group called Serikat Masyarakat Kediri Berdaulat (SRKB), complained that the nominations of both wives of the current Regent was part of a cunning undemocratic plan by Sutrisno to continue pulling the strings in the district, via one of his wives. Meanwhile as part of the preparations for the elections in August both women are required to undergo medical tests, with the Electoral Commission of Kediri recently issuing a firm warning to Haryanti and Nurlaila to avoid intimate relations with their husband in the days before the test. [2]

Yeah, whoever wins the election, Sutrisno that gets the advantage. But I like his siri wife for some reason. She has better experience in politic, stronger gut, more independent, and doesn’t want to be affiliated with her siri husband anymore. Contrary with his official wife who conveys strong message thru her posters (posing with her husband), that it is not HER that will lead the district, but her husband.

Yes Venna, the second wife has been a village head for like two decades, Wates I think. She was also vigorously denying that she was ‘married’ to the bupati, although her neighbours were telling a different story….gotta hate neighbours…

Don’t choose PAN. They failed to nurture good candidates and instead making a joke by choosing underqualified person.
