Ahmad Dhani and Maia take their marital problems to the police.

Pop star couple Ahmad Dhani, of Dewa 19, and Maia, formerly of the band Ratu, have taken their well-publicised marital problems to the police.

Maia, or Mia, born Maya Estianty, was the first to head to the police station on April 23rd, just after she had gotten back from the Haj to Mecca, with claims of husbandly psychological abuse as her marriage with the Dewa 19 singer fell apart [1].

Dhani Ahmad Prasetyo is not going to be far behind it appears [2], and his lawyers Samsul Huda and Umar Husin explained on 27th April that Dhani had a CCTV recording of his estranged wife going into a hotel with a rich, well-connected owner of a "conglomerate", a man who was already married, with one daughter to show for it. Dhani also had a recording of a telephone conversation with his wife, in which she is said to have admitted her guilt. This recording had been put into VCD format by Dhani, possibly with an accompanying sound track, and was going to be handed over to the police along with the video.

Adultery is a crime in Indonesia, although generally the police do not go looking for cases of it, except in hotels, but they often don't go looking for cases of anything.

The lawyers said that not only had Maia cuckolded her husband but she was very disrespectful towards him and his family. She treated her mother-in-law with disdain and accused her father-in-law of being a womaniser.

Ahmad Dhani also appears to believe that his troubles are an affair of state. He plans to send a letter outlining his marital problems to the wife of president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Mrs Ani, as well as former president Gus Dur's wife, Shinta Nuriyah Wahid, and the current minister for Womens' Empowerment, Meuthia Hatta. He hopes the letter will give the three important women a fuller view of what is going on in his household, whether they are interested or not.

The couple have three children, all named in mystical Sufi Islam style, Ahmad Al Gazali, El Jalaluddin Rumi, and Abdul Qodir Jaelani, but it is not clear whether any of these children are going to report their parents to the police.

Allah — in Mecca — whispered to her, suggesting that she goes to the police. Praise allah.

There he goes again, overvaluing himself.

What’s happening in Indonesia? Don’t you have better news about Indonesia to write?

Yes, we actually do, like the other day we set up a world record for deliberately scoring an own-goal, oh wait, never mind.

Combo, this is a good news, well, in a way it provides a nice break from boring religious related things we see/read. By the way, your name sounds like their children’s El Gran Combo, are you one of them? hehehe.

The caption says ‘not looking their best’, I think they still look pretty. But I don’t understand why many asians these days find the need to dye their hair brown, or blonde, or is it because they’re out in the sun too long? Is Dhani’s guru Dumbledore?

Shame on both of them. They are too arrogant in different ways. Dhani is too arrogant as a husband, he thinks he knows everything and he thinks he’s always right. And Maia is too arrogant that she thinks she is everything after she made a reputation through “Ratu.”

Those celebrities are so stupid, they are “played” by gosip reporters who are more than happy to see them fighting. And the messed up part is that two of them always tell their sides of stories to those reporters! That is insane. If I were Dhani I would ask Maia to sit in front of me and have a heart-to-heart conversation. And I wouldn’t go to Mecca to find answers if I were Maia, I mean the answers are right there in her house. If she wants to find answers go to your husband. I mean, God is everywhere. You don’t have to to Mecca just to find God, God lives within you. Look at other celebrities, Tamara and his husband, I believe they got married in Mecca or Saudi whatever, and what do they have now? They’re fighting like children. Our people worship symbols too much, they don’t seek for the essences that God actually has.

Wishing the best for them, because I’m no better.

I have heard at a TV programm (am currently on a holiday in Indonesia) A. Dhani said, that he just can love women who obey his words (menurut saya and that Maias lawyer, which has criticised him, does not understand the Islam laws about marriage and others.

This is the tendency in Indonesia, that everything will be directed or argumented with religious norms.

It is so boring to watch Indonesian TV. From morning till morning: religion and “sinetrons” about the power of Islam in every part of live.
Not the Islam is wrong, but…
    Poor Indonesia.

Yeah well, my husband is a musician and knows all these guys and that Dhani guy was taking a tumble or two with Mulan himself, so he can talk! I just love the way Dhani goes on about how the most important thing for a wife is to ‘nurut’. What a beast!

What dhani has been allowed to get away with is disgusting. Although this may seem like fairly useless celebrity gossip I feel that Maia’s stance and strength acts as an example to indonesian women in abusive relationships. “Jangan mau di injak” said Maia. Inspiring to many. As for Dhani…. it’s good he’s found a partner in Mulan, no other women in Indonesia would have him. Mulan, you reap what you sow. He and you are truly sickening.
