Star of David

The PKS in Madura tries to root out symbols of Judaism.

The head of the organising committee of the Partai Keadilan Sejehtera (PKS), or Welfare/Justice Party, in Sumenep, eastern Madura, East Java, one Ach Ready, has threatened to erase some kind of artwork, perhaps a mural, at the Adipura park in the city, which he says is a six sided star and therefore looks like the Star of David on the flag of Israel.

If the decoration at Adipura park whick looks like a Jewish symbol is not removed then PKS members will do it ourselves.

Muslims are extremely sensitive about Jews or things that remind them of Jews, says Ready, and he fears that protests will arise if the symbol is not gotten rid of.

He said he had already discussed the matter with important figures in the town and they were all astonished that a Jewish/Israeli symbol was befouling their town and wanted it painted over. suaramerdeka

There are striking similarities between Judaism and Islam, so much more than any other religion on earth, yet there is so much hatred. I think these guys are confusing Judaism with Israel.

And talking about Israel, did these guys know that Israel has a Muslim cabinet minister? That the Ben-Gurion airport has a Muslim prayer room?

  2. avatar Orgindo says:

Brainwashed. They don’t care anyway, they just know what to hate, not why.

Didn’t they know, there is more beyond the symbol? If they truly want to boycott them, then stop consuming Cocacola, watching football (esp if they are Arsenal’s fans), dump their Nokias, stop drinking Aqua Water (which is under Danone), and oh ya, stop using Intel and switch to AMD. And switch to Linux btw (Steve Ballmer is a Jew).

And so what? How far are they going to isolate themselves? Instead of doing something positive they are just making themselves looked stupid.

  3. avatar Matahari says:

Well, another typical example of some uneducated people, yeah show to the world how intolerance you people are.

  4. avatar Andrew says:

    “Monkey see, monkey do”.

No rhyme or reason, they just do it because someone before them do it, or tell them to do it.

Amazingly a Muslim friend of mine told me it was prescribed in their book, that “God tells them that the Jews are their enemy”, or something to that effect.

    I don’t believe her.

  5. avatar Dimp says:

I think they will not learn maths as well as the triangle clearly part of the star of David, and next they will eradicate the colour blue as this is also the colour of star of David, next the word star will be eradicated, and demanding people with the name of David to change their name.

  6. avatar Orgindo says:

I don’t think that there is such a verse in Quran? Someone can enlighten me? Or is it in other book?

  7. avatar Bas says:

“I think these guys are confusing Judaism with Israel.”

That makes no difference with them. Anything which is not ISLAM, ISLAM, ISLAM is to be prohibited and destroyed for them.

No doubt Madurese culture has brought more to the human civilisation than the Jewish one. lol

  8. avatar Hassan says:

Comparing the Madurese culture and the Jewish one? Comparing Apple to orange? How long have those two cultures existed? Ck..ck..ck.. Some people are just plain ignorant.

The Israel guys might have moslem cabinet member and had moslem prayer rooms in their airport, but they still kill Palestinian moslems everyday over one sided accusations.

–> “They don’t care anyway, they just know what to hate, not why.”

–> “Well, another typical example of some uneducated people, yeah show to the world how intolerance you people are.”

    Ignorant generalization.

–> “Amazingly a Muslim friend of mine told me it was prescribed in their book, that “God tells them that the Jews are their enemy”, or something to that effect.”

Your moslem friend doesn’t understand the Alquran. Alquran never said anything sound like that. Never teach to hate Jewish or Christians.

  9. avatar Robert says:

There is even a mosque in the Knesset, there are Arab’s in the parliament and in the Supreme Court.
If Israel is such a horrible country why has the Arab population grown so much since 1948? In those days there were about 160.000 Arabs, now more than 1.2 million. What is even more interesting that often the idea of transferring control, of Israeli-ruled land, to the Palestinian Authority is often met with great scepticism by the Arabs.

Muslims are extremely sensitive about Jews or things that remind them of Jews, says Ready, and he fears that protests will arise if the symbol is not gotten rid of.

It is bloody shame to see that a side-matter like a mural causes more unrest than really important issues. Probably the PKS-puppets have nothing better to do.

Al Quran clearly states that Any who believe in God, do good deeds and believe in The Day of Judgement, have nothing to fear. God also quite catagorically states that his name is praised in Jewish Temples and in Christian Churches as well as in Mosques.

God does warn in Al Quran against Some Jews and Christians but only those who do not follow his Straight Path, this does not mean to follow Al Quran, but the original Scriptures or Messages which they were given, or the parts that exist which are divinely inspired. He I am sure would warn also against Muslims of the present day who reject his teaching and just follow Sunnah and Hadith.

Andrew your friend was missguided as are the vast majority of the Muslim Ummah, they follow teachings of intolerance and injustice, they do not even understand the meaning of Islam, let alone the meanings of Believer, Unbeliever, and Non Believer. They are just followers, follow being the operative word as they are not taught to understand anything just to follow what they are told.

What’s the use of erasing symbols of a religion that’s not yours? It’s an empty gesture that will not help Palestine. Nothing to be proud about.

Why oh why so many (?) people in the Islamic world run to an extreme, dogmatic, irrational version of their religion, to define their own identity? It should be clear to them by now that nothing will change by claiming the superior moral highground. That’s only an easy, weak, immature and illogic attitude.

It would be much better to regain selfconfidence by improving the national welfare.

  12. avatar Tomaculum says:

    I’m just speechless!

  13. avatar Wallid says:

Just a few of many verses on the subject:

Sura (9:30) – And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah… Allah (Himself) fights against them. How perverse are they!

Sura (8:12) – I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them

Sura (9:123) – O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find you ruthless

Sura (5:33) – The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement

Sura (9:29) – Fight those who do not believe in Allah, … nor follow the religion of truth… until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

  14. avatar Robert says:

    Wallid,

Is there also a verse that says not to engage in useless activities? Or a verse that says other peoples religions should be respected?

  15. avatar Ak says:

Well I even doubt that most Indonesians can actually differentiate between Judaism as a religion, Jew as an ethnic group and Israel as a country.

Not everyone in Israel is a Jew.
Not every Jew is a supporter of Zionism.
Not every Jew (ethnic group) follows the Jewish faith.

  16. avatar pj_bali says:

    Wallid.

So let me get this straight – Quotes from old texts are always so confusing.

    1) Christians and Jews are perverse.

    2) Muslims have a duty to strike off the heads and fingers of Unbelievers.

    3) Muslims have an obligation from god to wage war on unbelievers.

    4) Unbelievers should be punished in nasty ways.

    5) Unbelievers should acknowledge Muslims as their masters and pay a tax superiors (Muslims) in order to avoid annihilation.

    Did I miss anything?

No wonder there is a credibility gap in the religion of peace, can someone please place these quotes in their proper context.

  17. avatar Orgindo says:

I think the mistake that people often make (not just in Islam, but also other religion) is that they often study the scripture by taking it apart.

You can’t just read the scripture part by part, you have to read it as whole. When you pick one by one, you can pick the one you like and justify the action you do (like taking multiple wives).

  18. avatar Hassan says:

Wallid: You’re most likely not a Muslim, or a Muslim who got your Quran mixed up. But obviously you wanted to spread lies about Islam by changing the contents of the Quran to suit your agendas, which is slander and hatred towards Islam

My Yusuf Ali translation of the Quran shows the following:

Quran 9:30. “The Jews call ‘Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!”

Quran 9:123. “O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.”

Quran 8:12. “Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): “I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.”

Quran 5:33. “But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.”

Quran 9:29. “O ye who believe! if ye fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion (to judge between right and wrong), remove from you (all) evil (that may afflict) you, and forgive you: for Allah is the Lord of grace unbounded.”

To verify these verses, you can open http://www.searchtruth.com and use the search engine there.

pj_bali: Wallid falsified and twisted the Quran and quoted the Quran incorrectly, so unfortunately your conclusion is a wrong one. Now, what can you conclude from the original verses which I had quoted?

That’s what you get from cherry picking holy scriptures.

  19. avatar Mohammed Khafi says:

    Wallid,

You are either an ignorant, narrow minded, bigoted Muslim or an ignorant, narrow minded, bigoted Islam hater. As Hassan says your translations of the verses are very poor, you have also not placed them into context at all, which is totally necessary to correctly understand them.

    Peace

  20. avatar Grace and Mercy says:

If……. not removed then PKS members will do it ourselves.

Being vigilante, taking the law into their own hand. It’s sad that this is the reality we face now in our country.

  21. avatar Hassan says:

That what happens when the law don’t work, because of poor enforcement and it’s inferiority before the ever-powerful money. That’s Indonesia, my friends.

When that happens, no wonder people kept taking the law into their own hand, either via bribing court officials or using brute force (for the people who had no money to bribe with).

  22. avatar Dimp says:

    Hi Hassan,

Blame the officials then, don’t take matters into your own hands. Problem is Indonesians still are too afraid with the officials, Indonesians have mob mentality, only when they are part of a mob then they are brave enough to take matters, and again only against small ‘fish’.

  23. avatar Manuel says:

Iguess having nothing else important to do in life they decided that destructing symbols will add a point to their effort in trying to show the world that they are the first class group who religiously uphold their Gold in every bloody aspect of their meaningless life.

And what make it more clear that they do have nothing important in life is by ultimating.

arrogantly stupid, I don’t give a *&iT, I am just glad I am not one of them.

  24. avatar Dimp says:

    Hi Manuel,

Unfortunately what is considered not important for you is mostly important for these people, and the also considered their anarchy to be peaceful and necessary.

  25. avatar Riccardo says:

These PKS fools are dragging this country down as much as terror bombs do.

On a similar note, has anyone ever noticed the official US State Dept. seal? I got a letter from the embassy (all embassies are under the State Dept) and the seal was big and clear. It’s quite obviously the same 6-pointed star surrounded by a ring of feathers or something.

Just thought that was interesting and I was trying to find the origins of it but couldn’t come up with anything. Anyone know the origin and symbolism of that?

Goodness gracious, maybe the PKS will try to deface the US embassy now…

  26. avatar Ihaknt says:

Riccardo, be careful it may have drugs or anthrax virus! DONT OPEN IT!

  27. avatar Vince says:

Wikipedia gives a good start point on the origins and history of the Star of David as used by judaism :

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_david

The symbol is also know as hexagram , and was used profusely as a protective symbol in the Middle ages.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagram

It originally was born as a hindi sign. Please read the area “usage in islam”.

As a person interested in the history of religions it gives me pains to see the same attitudes spread all over the world, resumed in “brandish your truth and destroy all those who don’t think like you”. Once you have a belief of being superior to the others, disaster is bound to happen sooner or later. No faith is above all in this respect. Hate and bigotry are not the way

  28. avatar Odinius says:

PKS are a bunch of anti-semites, which makes them a bunch of ignorant fools. So are Islamophobes, for that matter. I suspect Wallid is one of them. Someone with the same name has posted a lot of distorted Quran quotes on other websites I’ve seen.

I love Judaism, Islam and Christianity in the abstract, but worry about what people do with them when they stop questioning. True believers (including zealous atheists) are more likely to hate than moderates, liberals and the agnostic.

Anyone who degrades or judges a mass of people based upon the actions of a minority or a bigoted distortion of ancient beliefs is worthless in my book.

  29. avatar emuh says:

General Election will be coming soon….Don’t choose stupid party like PKS that is racist, narrow-minded, full of anger, etc. We can make a difference by choosing a party which promote pluralism, inclusiveness. We have to be agents of change not to be naive citizens.
