What Islam is and why people love it.
In the discussion on Alfarini Eridani Agnes says, likely as a self-defensive reflex against the “cloud” which Islam may have been put under by the polygamy issue, always a difficult issue for Muslim women to deal with:
I LOVE ISLAM!!!!!
Loving a religion? A certain type of Christian might say “I love God” or “I love Jesus” but “I love Christianity” is a far less commonly heard thing. Google says:
Results 1 – 10 of about 775 for “I love Christianity”.
While for the other:
Results 1 – 10 of about 19,000 for “I love Islam”.
Note these results are in English, which is the language of Christianity for many but not of Islam, for most.
Understanding why the expression “I love Islam” exists can tell us much about the nature of Islam and may enable us to understand a lot of what is happening in our world today, from the rise of Islamic militancy and terrorism, to cartoon rage, to the increasing tendency of Muslims to mark themselves off from others by the way of their dress, among many other things.
First we need to know what is the thing that is loved. It is evidently not God, or else Agnes would have likely said so. What is loved, which means what Islam is, is a way of living, a lifestyle, an identity, a history, a tradition, a sense of belonging to a worldwide community, a community which is highly fractured and prone to bitter internal conflicts, yes, but one which nevertheless deeply yearns for the unity of the “ummah”.
Those who criticise Islam would do well to note this. Quoting evil sounding verses from the Quran is a largely useless effort, since it does not address what draws people to Islam, or keeps them attached to it, it does not deal directly with Islam’s strengths, which are many.
The problem we are faced with today, or that Muslims are faced with, is that their way of life, which is one way of saying their religion, and then, logically, even themselves, is under enormous pressure. Cultures and peoples do not survive for ever, weaker ones are annilihated by the stronger, and while this has happened since the beginning of history it is today that the process of destruction of traditional cultures goes on at a frenetic pace, due to new technologies and what people usually call globalization.
The future is in Los Angeles, and Shanghai, it is not in any Islamic “capital”. The traditional way of life, which is to say, again, the religion, of hundreds of millions of Muslims will unlikely survive the great upheaval of modern times, the sorting out of winners and losers, the grim battle for economic survival. Not long from now, if it isn’t happening already, children in the middle east will briefly turn away from the video game they are playing to cast a disdainful eye on the photos of their peculiarly dressed grandparents. Islamic terrorism, the Taliban, the tendency of Muslims to accentuate the differences between themselves and others, are all different kinds of reactions against this destruction, desperate protests, desperate attempts to survive.
Which brings us back to loving Islam. Love can be displayed in many different ways and it can be at its most intense when we fear that the object of our affection will leave us or be taken away, and the biggest, most powerful stars burn brightest when they are dying.

May I can suggest that we learn to love each other and accept the difference between us, we are all unique creation of God with our own freedom to think and will”¦not a uniform robots. Love you guys, God bless you and enlighten your mind in His plan.
WOW?!?!?! what a turnaround. This is the best comment you have ever made JKS. I agree with you 100%. You sound like a different person and actually make sense for once. Please know I really mean this, it’s a positive different. Yes monotonous world would be boring wouldn’t it?
Dear Tomac, Ihaknt and everyone else thanks for your comments and views.
It is common practice that most Islamic preacher is admitted they are not free from sins before preaching. Most of them telling to the audience that something right is from God and the wrong one from himself. In this cases, I am not a preacher so the proper word should be “I am full of sins” hehehe because my sins much be more than the normal preacher.

Very sad huh, when you see two Moslem brothers fighting over who’s right or wrong.
Brother. could you please check again my comments, I never said that Khafi views was wrong. I said my understanding is different from Khafi views.
Cukurungan

You’ll be surprised brother. These so called preachers are munafik, and they hide behind the religion, whatever it is. So, sin is in God’s hands, not us. Agree?
sgn,
Yes, of course.
Cukurungan, Ihaknt is right. Salam from a sinner!
Khafi & Cukurungan,
My apologies. I should have said arguing instead of fighting so you all won’t interpret differently. And that is exactly what my point is. Why Islam as a religion needs to be viewed differently by their followers? Isn’t it all Moslems must read Syahadat (testimony) to acknowledge that there is only one God, that is ALLAH SWT which you believe in and his prophet Muhammad. If this is correct, why there are so many clusters in Islam? Don’t get me wrong, I was not talking about Sunni/Syiah. When I was a little I never hear such words of extremists or moderates Moslem or other labels that I don’t know of. It is sad indeed when they don’t know that they have been clustered into small pieces, so easy put them away on the corners. If there’s a disputes/disagreement between them, please refer back to Al Quran & Hadist as supreme laws.

I think what they’re arguing over here is not whether they believe in Allah SWT and the prophet Muhammad. NO doubt about it that they both do. They are arguing different interpretation. Is this right Cukurungan and MK?
I am with you too Arab Com, when I was little I was’nt even taught that Moslem must hate Jews and other religion, I wasnt taught to hate AT ALL. I only hear about these now. When the extremist views just resurface. I always convince my friends here that the Islam I know is peaceful and not like what they see on the media. Damn media!
Arab community said:

The whole essence of my views is based on the fact that there should be no source other than Al Quran! For my justification of this, see this post complete and fully detailed

I’ve heard this since very young …. During that time, three mosques surrounded my family’s small house. From the way and the content they preached (through very load speakers) we could notice easily they were not in the same sects.

Ahh, another feel-good article for anti-Islamists. The fact is: no major religion in this world had ever died, and that includes Islam. They had their ups and downs but dying or dead? No.
To my Muslim brothers, please stop arguing, you will prove that the article is right. We knew that Islam is not dying, it’s actually growing from time to time, but our division will encourage our oppositions.
Well said Mutmut:
They’re in love with the Jesus Christ, the Person in the center of the Christianity.
And sgn also well said:
Therefore, a true Christian must love all human being (not to their religions, of course), including to all Muslim.
God bless you! Merry Christmas.. Jesus is the reason for the season!
For all sorry , I am just replied now, because I have to go to place where out of GPRS coverage.
Dear brother Tomac and IHAnT.
Have you learned why the most preacher are munafik? In order to become a successful a preacher must give the impression to their audience that they are such a good person and
behave as they said, but don’t forget they’re just common human beings like us? Aren’t they? And they’re not immune against temptation of the sins. My understanding is their mistake is
they’re not in such good fortune like you who can make living without doing preaching.
Unfortunately for most preachers, the only sources of money are donations or gifts from their audience. Therefore, the preacher is supposed to convey full version of God’s message and the truth but they were preaching to make the audience happy and conveying the biased message, even sometimes with the twisted God’s message. Otherwise, the preacher will be unpopular and end of story for him. So unfair, if we are just blaming them for munafik, because we are as the audience also having a share in producing the munafik preacher. This is same thing like we are always blamming about the government’s corruption but with current distorted society how come God will give us a good government unless we are also change ourself to become a good society.
Brother sorry if my words are too many, these are only my views and the correct one is from God, the wrong one from my self.
Best regards,
Cukurungan (rajangentot)
Note: I changed my name because one of my brothers is not happy with my name.
Dear brother Arab,
Please don’t be too sad or too happy with the thing happened in ourselves and beyond. God said in Al-hadid that everything happened on us already determined by God even when the universe hasn’t yet been created.
In addition our beloved Prophet said that His ummah will be someday clustered much more than ahli kitab cluster.
Dear Khafi,
Please be careful with your reliance on the your logical strength because our logical strength is no different with other human capabilities like hearing, smelling and vision ability. There’s limit for the human ability. Therefore, there’s a truth even sometimes beyond our logical ranges ability. But don’t get me wrong, of course, nonsense is not the same with beyond sense
Best regards,
Cukurungan
Hi Cukurungan,
Allah many times in Al Quran, tells us to use our own faculties, our own eyes, ears, and hearts. He knows that we are not without faults, after all he is our creator, is he not?
I think that using our own judgement and concentration on what is clear in Al Quran, is far more what Allah intends us to do instead of blindly following what others tell us.
Allah says that we should not blindly follow our fathers because they may be wrong? He also says that on the day of judgement nobody will be able to intercede for us, we have to take responsibility for our own actions. I would rather that I have to stand up for my logic, that that of somebody else which I accepted without questioning or reason.
Peace
Hassan, Cukurungan.
If you love Islam, I bet Islam is the best for you. Can you prove Islam is any better than other religions?
As far as I know that middle and upper class Muslims people in Indonesia send their children for best education to western Christian countries, very seldom to Pakistan/Iran/Irak/Arab Saudi/Lybia as prominent idol of Islam countries.
I bet your english is better than your Arabian, did you learn in Muslim country or in Christian country?
Dear JKS,
He he he he, If I have enough money, I will send one of my Kid to Israelis university to learn nuclear technology and I will send another Kid to Arab Saudi to learn al Qur’an and Hadist.
In this case, Is any prove that My religion lower than other religion?.
At this time, I do not think there is any Christian Country or Muslim Country, so far I know there is a country with their people claiming their religion either Islam or Christian and any other religion.
And there is no question that until this time, today word is dominated by Country with majority non Moslem but this domination will be starting to decline as you saw even the most advance country in the word (USA) could not eliminate hundred or thousands of Al-Qaeda member. God design was very perfect the technology could not be used to deter a people will. As I said, of course American can kill or torture the Moslem but American are never be able to extinguish the people will who worship only one God. The reminder the Moslem domination in the Spanish land was ended after more than 500 years and at the moment Christian Domination to the word still not even close to 500 years. God already told to the man kind that the word domination will be roster to the man kind as He wish
Best regards
Cukurungan
JKS: Is America a Christian country, based on mostly the people are?
Indonesian is an Islam country, then. 😀
1ndra,
Islam means submission to Allah does it not?
That means following Al Quran (revelations from God), and not manmade Sunnah and Hadith (inspirations of men).
Most people in Indonesia follow Sunnah and Hadith, therefore they are not true Muslims, it follows that Indonesia is not an Islamic country.
You just have to look the lack of morality, the criminal activity and the general state of what should be one of the strongest countries in SE Asia if our natural wealth and resources were being used properly, and people were living truely to the principles given to us by God in Al Quran.
I love you Islam because Islam is my life, Islam is my way, Islam always win in the world. Allahu akbar.
Yes, OK Agus, but you’re a joke.

Christian countries? As far as I know, only there is no so called Christian countries, except maybe “Vatican”. Sorry, I don’t agree with you, JKS.
It is a fact that, in general, Moslem has more children. The number of Moslem is increasing. Look at the number of the population in Indonesia and Indian Moslem. Indian Moslem is increasing, too.

Dear All…
it’s time to say “MERRY CHRISTMAS” to all of you regardless your religions or even no religion.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many”
Christmas is wonderful, especially when you know why Jesus came, and that He came for you and me.

The lack that keeps Indonesian being far away to be an SE Asian strongest country…you’re right brother!
About sunnah, in my view, sunnah is something if you do that you get ‘pahala’ if not, no sin.
About hadith, in my view hadith is to explain Al-Quran in everyday life.
I dont have a complete hadith books, only Quran and its exegenisis (Manytime it contains hadith and it shows relationship between Quran and hadith). Hadith is not there and never exist if Allah dont approve it.
But for sure, hadith is not one in Rukun Islam and Rukun Iman, but it has relevance in ‘Beriman kepada Rasul-rasul/Believe in His prophets’
Cukurungan, I just read. Thanks for your info!

Let me guess reason of your conversion:
1) You were live in very poor condition and someone one with different religion came to you and offered exchange better live with your faith.
2) You were sick for longtime and someone with different religion cured you with their magic word and ceremonial.
3) You exchanged the religion to follow your girl friend faith.
4 You were questioning dogma in your previous religion and the answer you found in new religion ….hehehehehe….but this is very small possibility because I did not think a smart guy like you convert to the non-sense dogma.

No.
When I was a kid, my family was very poor (my father died when I was 11 year old). I made a decision when I was 20 years old – after my family was more better life. I use to have two meals a day until now.
In fact, at that time, I had heard and learnt enough all allowed religions in my country.
2) You were sick for longtime and someone with different religion cured you with their magic word and ceremonial.
No. Even though, I was poor I had a good health (Thank God for your grace).
Now, I am a regular blood donor (so far 20 times) and registered as an organs donor (valid when I died, but still have good organs).
3) You exchanged the religion to follow your girl friend faith.
No.
I didn’t have any girl friend till 22 years old.
My girl friend was converted 2 years after me. She is now my wife.
4 You were questioning dogma in your previous religion and the answer you found in new religion “¦.hehehehehe”¦.but this is very small possibility because I did not think a smart guy like you convert to the non-sense dogma.
I thought I was not a sinner because I didn’t commit any crime or wrong doing. But, later I realized it was wrong. I need God’s help.

In conclusion,
Can I say, people love SEX more than Jesus or Muhammad ?
My opinion : I love my self than anything !
It’s a BULLSHIT if you tell me that you love Jesus or Muhammad than you love your self !! You are trying to fool you God ! By saying you love Them more doesn’t mean you can go to heaven.
You can lie to anybody…….but please…please…don’t lie to your self….

O2
I am in love with my wife and our only son. I have not been a religious person, but when ever me, my wife and my son spend time together I just could not stop thanking Jesus, my live has been full of love even though I was not really religious.
How do I love religion , how do I love the creator. I can not love, I will never be pure enough to love Almighty. I am doing the best I can, trying as hard as I can to keep my self away from sin and what ever God told us by the Bible, and many times I forget to pray and did wrongdoings but still I have been rewarded with beautifull life. and when ever i look at my 10 month old son, I just can stop say God you are very kind, who am I to deserve such a beautifull live ( and I even skip going to church sometimes )…..
I don’t want to compare my religion with other’s, as my relationship with God is very personal, I have been blessed in life , not because I love religion, not because I say I love Jesus every minute of my life and tell other to also love Jesus but because God love me and its the ultimate love that no human being could comprehend.
And as day goes by, I did not say my prayer because I expect to get better things or living tommorow, but just because I have been so blessed in live everyday.
and yes bacon is tasty, I did once ate my breakfast in a hotel in NY, I took a slice of bread and bacon, and it was so tasty , I thank God it was so nice breakfast. I always jokingly said to my Moslem friend, Christian are lucky because Pig is considered haram otherwise it will be more expensive then beef.
My point is I once was tempted to join the discussion on Islam/Christian and other religion, but I realize, GOD is too strong to be defended , and I am too un holy to love the Almighty, all I can do is thanking God , for my life each and everyday ( as often as I can), trying my best to the better person everyday and minimize hurting other on the way…..
Hi Manuel,
I was delighted while reading your message.

Hello Mutmut,
God bless you.
Hello All,
Agree, we seldom hear “I love Christianity”. And, have you ever ask why a Christian loves Jesus?
“I love Jesus because He loves me first”.
And… because “I love Jesus”, a true Christian should obey Jesus’ request “love your neighbour as you love yourself”. Therefore, a true Christian must love all human being (not to their religions, of course), including to all Muslim.
Mutmut, do you agree?
sgn.
Hello Mutmut.
