Palm, Microsoft and Excelcomindo Pratama (XL) are working together to bring the Palm Treo 750v smartphone to the Indonesian market.

In Singapore on the 16th CEO’s and representatives of XL, Palm, Microsoft, Celcom, M-1 and Telekom Malaysia gathered to officially launch the latest Palm Treo model, the 750, for the local and Malaysian market, this being the fruit of cooperative efforts of XL with Vodafone, and Telekom Malaysia.

The President Director of XL, Hasnul Suhaimi, said later in Jakarta that as a by-product of the launch in Singapore the Palm Treo 750 would become available in Indonesia by November. He talked up the matter thus:

This joint effort is proof of XL’s committment to become the communications and information provider of choice in Indonesia.

The Palm Treo provides services based on a software package from Microsoft, the Windows Mobile 5.0 Messaging and Security Feature Pack, and utilises the “push email” function, it is reported.

Jason Lim, the Regional Director of Microsoft’s Mobile and Embedded Devices division says that users of the Treo 750 will enjoy being able to access email, documents and data, agenda notes, the internet, music, video, and games, all from one smart device.

Gadget happy, and image conscious, Indonesians will no doubt be keen to show off their ownership of such a model as the Palm Treo 750.
