A&W Jakarta Bomb
Nov 11th, 2006, in News, by PatungA bomb exploded at an A&W restaurant in Jakarta.
The low-explosive bomb went off at the Kramat Jati Indah plaza branch of the American fast food chain in east Jakarta at about 13.00 today. One person, with the intitials MN, was hurt, he being the person who carried the bomb into the restaurant. The motive is not yet known. One witness said the man pretended to be sick, or was sick, and was given food, and even a massage, by staff. Then the bag he was carrying blew up. detik

The man, Mohammed Nur, alias Kholid/Cholid, 36, regained consciousness and was spoken to by police. It appears that he wanted to commit suicide, in a “cool”, unusual way. People who know him say he has been depressed or very quiet since his mother died earlier in the year.
Nur is not believed to have any affiliation with Islamic radical groups. He did carry a handwritten note on his person which contained verses from the Quran, that is verse 13 of Al Isra, and verses 169-170 of Al Imron. The note also had the words “No problem, no conflict”, and the number 2070, which seems to be a “coded” version of his birthdate, 20th October 1970. tempo

Qur’an:9:111 “Allah has purchased the believers, their lives and their goods. For them (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise). They fight in Allah’s Cause, and they slay and are slain; they kill and are killed.”
Qur’an:2:216 “Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.” [Another translation reads:] “Warfare is ordained for you.”
Qur’an:47:4 “So, when you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”
Qur’an:8:12 “I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle.”
Qur’an:8:67 “It is not fitting for any prophet to have prisoners until he has made a great slaughtered in the land.”
Qur’an:7:3 “Little do you remember My warning. How many towns have We destroyed as a raid by night? Our punishment took them suddenly while they slept for their afternoon rest. Our terror came to them; Our punishment overtook them.”
let look at some hadit and what they have to say about jihad:
Bukhari:V4B52N50 “The Prophet said, ‘A single endeavor of fighting in Allah’s Cause is better than the world and whatever is in it.'”
Bukhari:V4B51N73 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘Know that Paradise is under the shade of swords.'”
Bukhari:V4B52N130 “Aisha said, ‘Whenever the Prophet intended to proceed on a raid he used to draw lots amongst his wives and would take the one upon whom the lot fell. Once, before setting out for Jihad, he drew lots and it fell on me; so I went with him.”
just looking at this traditions, the true Jihad is obvoius, “speaking truth to a ruler” is used when the Muslims are weak, but once the have the number, then the true meaning thicks in.
just get set for more terror because they can’t stop killing ’cause they are still reading the Quran and the hadit.

I agree with you that Qur’ân al-Karîm is quite aggressive.
But what can we do ? Your idea of finishing with Islam is a little exagerated, isn’t it ? For me jihâd remains an effort for an individual to overcome his or her own defects. Killers like Hasanoddin, Amrozi, Noordin M. Top are less “Muslims” for me than badly crazy human beings. I’m no Muslim, I was raised in a non practicing Christian family and for me religion is a kind of pain in the arse, even if I’ve got strong sympathies for certain Buddhistic ideas : to all of that I prefer ANARCHY, meaning individual responsibility of each in front of all. I like compassion (sympathy) and totally reprove death-giving, be it in time of war (which is an unjustifiable barbaric state of criminal disorder), abortion, euthanasia, self-defense, “justice”, etc. It’s a pity “literalism” exists, and especially when reading Qur’ân or Bible : disorderly books overestimated by those who like them & totally underestimated by those who hate them. But we saw Hindus burning mosques and here in France, anti-North-African racism is an ordinary fact : everyday poor people in the suburbs of great cities burn cars, many of them are of Algerian origin, Frenchmen call them “Arabs” & everyone is taught to hate them : all of that is propaganda, burps & farts of what I obsessively call the “militaro-industrial lobby” : everything that happens on Earth right now has been allowed by this lobby, let’s say for insuring the happiness of less than 2 % of the global population. I think that goes far further the religious phenomenon : religions are just used by the cynical monsters. Remember that Bush has said he’d been inspired by God to go & kill 600 000 people in Irak. The religious explanations, justifications, debates are just talking of “the sex of the angels” — meaning nothing useful or interesting, to distract the people from its real struggle.

And, there’s no where “to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam”, because forcing to convert to Islam is prohibited, as Allah said in Al-Baqarah 256)No where in Al-Quran that support terror!

don’t even waste your time trying to reply Ismail, he’s just an amateur anti-Islam orientalist, his church told him to spread hate against other religion (namely Islam) all the time. I had proven his cherrypickings of a religious text wrong on several occasions, but he never gave up. Ismail had a tendency to bring fourth harsh sounding verses from the Quran but hides the previous verses, which can tell us the true context of those verses.
for someone who confessed that he’s well versed in the Quran, his ignorance to the real contexts of the verses begged serious questions of his honesty and credibility. a bigot is what a bigot does.

1ndra, thank you for presenting your view point simply and i did take time to read you reply even though you explain some rather weakly and left a lot unexplained and the hadit you simply did not respond to, however i thot a “revealed book” Quran should be clear and easy to understand and that means i really don’t have to understand history to understand it meaning its should convey its meaning without much effort, I guess in this the Quran failed rather badly. I have to learn about the war of badr, the raid of Nakhla, the battle of Uhud, and the rest of that, well fortunately I am acquinted with them.
please think about this, why did the ‘prophet’ order that Christians and Jews are to pay jizyah(inferiority or submission tax), how were Muslims to ensure that this funds were extorted from them, I would say terror is a rather solid tool in the hands of Muslims.
the war of badr, according to sira bin ishaq and al-tabari and perhaps some of the hadith i mentioned, was a raid on the Quraysh Arab’s caravan that was carrying money and goods on trade route, its was not a holy war like Muslims like to think secondly the Quraysh where prepared because Muslims were constantly raiding caravans of this Arabs, because the rejected mohammed’s message therefore killing them and looting there goods was acceptable to Muslims, Allah and mohammed.

Anonymous_aloy, I am not sure what you mean, I was Muslim and i have read the Quran, hadith and the sira and by God please look around you, the things you see are pretty clear, ain’t they?
If i read the sura 5:51 says Muslims do not take Jews and Christians as friends.
And I see that almost all Muslims even if he was born yesterday, hate the Jews and don’t really if they are killed, they simply trump up all kinds of charges in order to justified there killing.
If you see one that indicate any likeness to Jews, he his simply in trouble, just look at the bangladish journalist, do you know he his a death row!
And I have seen Muslims kill Christians, just because they are Christians, have you see talaban/al-qeada training center video and notice that since the late ’80’s the have the cross as a shooting target.
These things are pretty simple, just give a bit of time you will see more killings by Muslims or who do you think, killed the Christian leader in lebanon, “the religions of peace” is rather active lately, they burnt a teacher alive in southern thailand just last week. Islam can’t help itself killing is a doctrine and an act of faith, a Muslims was arguing in canada that the state should understand honor killing as a demand of faith what a shame.
