Danish Royal Pigs

As some sort of vengeance for the two Muhammad drawing controversies in Denmark (Prophet Muhammad Cartoons and Danish Cartoon Crisis II), a radio station in the East Java provincial town of Kediri held a cartoon drawing competition, in cooperation with a local mosque, in which seventy-three children drew pictures on the theme of “The Legend of the King of Denmark and the Pig”, even though Denmark does not currently have a King.
The head of Radio Famili Education (Radikal) FM, Agus Sunyoto, said that the competition was a good way to get back at Denmark for having allowed the publication of the insulting Muhammad cartoons.
Actually, this is a very effective way, compared to protests that often can lead to anarchism.
It appears that a number of the industriously drawing children were non-Muslims. A total of five million rupiah was awarded to the top three contestants. The three best cartoons would be sent to the Danish embassy in Jakarta and the winners would also be taken to Jakarta in an attempt to meet with the Danish ambassador.

Halim Wiranata, aged 13 years, drew a cartoon entitled “King of Circus of Copenhagen”, which showed a crowned pig sitting on a throne in a circus with the Danish flag in the background. Halim’s ten year old sister, Tifania, was not to be outdone however, and drew a pig dressed as a queen. antara
It appears that this is the second cartoon competition held in Kediri, the first one being in September. A second report, from Surya, says that police and local government officials this time warned the stagers of the competition not to go ahead with it. They feared that it would harm relations with Denmark and that the central government in Jakarta would view the matter dimly.
The organisers however ignored the warning, with the argument that drawing competitions cannot be banned. The organising committee said they had the support of a legal team, if the matter ever went to court.
One of the organisers, Agus Sunyoto, said the competition was held to teach children that they could compete with white people. White people always claimed that their societies were the best, he said, and Indonesian children had to learn to have pride in the face of this. Secondly, he said, the patience of Muslims had already reached its breaking point, revenge was needed. surya

Hi Miss Indo, and I’m glad that my children doesn’t achieve such “education”. Maybe they should first study about the constitutional form of the danish monarchy.
And I hope that the Indonesian Gov. would gather its courage and stop such awkward deeds.
I condemn such religious affronts like these cartoons of Mohammad saw too, although I am a follower of free speech, which is a part of a democracy. But to a democracy belongs also the duty to responsible acquintance with the rights. Those cartoons were to my opinion definitely not necessary. -

The tragedy is twofold here:
First, mr. dimwit jawa muzzie agus and his fellow jawa muzzies, they actually — somehow — think they are getting revenge. (insert big belly laugh HERE!) The truth is, not a single human being on this planet will be upset — let alone start killing people, like the muzzies do.
Second, this whole free-speech-offend-and-hate-everybody discourse that is going on in the world is purely an adult thing for people like us on this blog to deal with. IT IS NOT for kids, they should not be exposed to and encouraged in all this hate.As much as I, personally, hate some groups of fools and terrorists, I would never let my kids join this debate of hatred. Are muzzies too stupid to understand the meaning of “child abuse”? Don’t they care about what message they are sending to their kids? This sophomoric attack on Denmark will be forgotten tomorrow, but the kids will forever have a vile hatred for someone they’ve never met.
Ah well, the next generation of muzzies are lost too, I guess they’ll just end up going to GITMO! -
That really shows what kind of mindset they have and how shallow they see this whole thing.
And some people do have inferiority complex disorder – which is what happened to this Agus Sunyoto guy, whoever he is.
Opening this kind of competition for adults as a “revenge” is stupid and childish. Involving children, it is downright IDIOTIC and destructive.
This is a serious crime, as serious as selling drugs to kids, or selling selling minors to a prostitution ring. I couldn’t care less about the insult to the Danes (like I said, they would just ignore it), it is about poisoning the next generation.
I am happy my kids don’t have to grow up in such an environment.
And we’ll see what Indonesian legal system could do.

Well, as a Muslim, if the purpose of such competition is for vengeance, I dont like it. It useless, wasting time, uneducated…and childish, yeah even using children…
There’re much better themes that could be draw. Why not teaching children good themes for their ages?
But cartoon is an example of free speech of democracy as sometimes it being used for criticize bad government, as it common in our newspapers. -

lets be fair everyone, both the danes and their cartoon scandals and this competition for the kids by the kediri folks are good examples of an irresponsible form of free speech. sure the kediri fiasco is bad but lets not apply double standards here, the danes are not exactly smart too by insulting Muslims (twice!).
it’s not fair to condemn our countrymen in kediri but not the danes for their stupidity.

every time you incite hate and point fingers, other people will point fingers back at you, specially when you’re not exactly holy and fault-free yourself. was that too confusing for you Riccardo?
as for the meaning of “child abuse”, why don’t you ask your mommy what that means. it seems your childhood was not too happy by the looks of things, the way you always seemed to vent anger towards other people’s faith all the time.

How much? There has been over 7200 terror attacks since 9/11 alone.
And how many civilians killed in Iraq?
The truth is, whenever there is anything approaching a Muslim majority – then chaos and murder will reign. Islam is the scourge of the world and needs to be banned and snuffed out in all Western countries. I for one would love to help do it.
And the truth is they’re planning to do the same to Iran and maybe planning to other rich resources countries. They’re the one that should be banned. Everyone love to help to do it.

During the cartoon riots, embasies were burned, and over 140 innocent people were murdered. Now that the Danes have also been insulted, it will be interesting to see how they react — let’s hope they do not start destroying property, and go on a spree of murdering Moslems.

I always kept an open mind with regards to muslims and the reasons for their acts of terrorism.
I lived with a palestinien for two years and heard his stories from his homeland. (he had converted to buddhism after seeing to much death and killings)
Even after 9/11, the Mardrid and London bombings (which almost killed my sister), the 2nd Bali bombings (which almost got me) I still didnt think of muslims as my enemy.
The last two months I have read the Quran. And it is clear now that I am seen as the enemy of muslims and their holy book gives free liscence to kill me or anybody non-muslim with a clear conscience.
It is the most negative book I have ever read. At best an outdated lawbook but mainly a perversion and outright corruption of the old testament. Simply someones opion of the Torah and how they think we should live. Rediculos.
Oh yes, I am Danish and have a keen interest in theology.
As a matter of interest, The old nordic religion has virtualy the same creation story as the Hindu. As well as similar death ritual.
