Mujahidin Council Unwelcome

Some villagers in Sukabumi, West Java force a Mujahidin Council training camp to disperse.

Hundreds of members of the Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia (MMI), a pseudo jihadist organisation, had gathered in the village of Sukakersa, Parakan Salak district, Sukabumi regency, West Java, to conduct para-military training. The presence of the MMI men, dressed in black, aroused the displeasure of local villagers, representatives of whom met with MMI leaders and asked that the training activities not take place in their village.

At first, it is reported, Mujahidin Council leaders refused to comply with the request. Tempers began to fray until local police officers arrived with the police giving the MMI one day to pack up their bags and leave.

Abu Bakar Ba’asyir of the MMI says, in response to the above and similar instances of people objecting to MMI training in their areas that his organisation will continue to hold such events. He says that his men are training to go to Lebanon and are not making bombs. He added that in future exercises his men would borrow military equipment from the Resimen Induk Kondam Jaya.

B4 I begin, as we know we live in this difficult democratic regime. Everyone has a right and so does the other….I think this MMI should tell any local villagers if they want 2 conduct paramilitary training next and show them d perspective about this activts, in other hand, why MMM council unwelcome

I commend the local villagers for this. I just wish all villages in Indonesia are strong enough to be able to fend off these thugs and prevent them from setting up camps. I am concerned with villages where the community ties are not as strong or where there are no strong local leaders that are able to organize villagers against these thugs.

God bless them – the villagers.

Good on those villagers, but one thing that strikes me as a bit disconcerting is that the police just told them to leave, and that was the end of it. The Police should really have charged with them “illegal militia behaviour” or some such thing, locked them all up and then misplaced the key. Now these Islamo-fascists will just go find another area to hone their terror skills and prepare for another terror attack, killing dozens of fellow Muslims.
