Agni Pratistha wins the 2006 Putri Indonesia contest.

Agni, whose full name is Agni Pratistha Arkadewi Kuswardono, was the contestant from Central Java and is 18 years old. She replaces Nadine Chandrawinata as the reigning Putri Indonesia and will progress to the 2007 Miss Universe competition.

Agni was chosen on the 25th in Jakarta narrowly beating out Ananda from South Kalimantan and Rahma Landy from DKI Jakarta. She is a model and actress and has starred in the film “Mengejar Matahari” as well having some other minor roles.

Recently, on the question of beauty contests, the minister for tourism Jero Wacik was heard to offer a defence, given the controversy such things arouse in Indonesia. He claimed that beauty was a thing not only on the outside but a thing that was created by positive thinking, within. To be beautiful a girl had to “be good and think positively”. Not only this, according to the minister, pretty women were those who struggled for Indonesia. Such women could even attract tourists, he said, provided they were friendly. No doubt Agni Pratistha Arkadewi Kuswardono can be included by him in this category.

Omg, only a few months in SIngapore I don’t know there’s another miss Indonesia already…

    Well, go Agni!!

Bring Indonesia a good reputation ^^

Maybe one day, people will know Bali as part of Indonesia…not the other way…

  2. Jimmy Muchtar says:

Personality of a nation can be look at the women, me so proud as people of Indonesia to have princes like you:)

    are you my angel?

  3. ardo artito martanto says:

miss Agni, you are so beautiful. Congratulation for your triumph at PUTERI INDONESIA 2006. Give your best ability on next MISS UNIVERSE 2007.

  4. Boneng says:

She is not so special, nor beautiful either just like million of girls in Indonesia, but good luck girl, be aware criticism when you come back to Indonesia, perhaps you should wear “jilbab” from the Jakarta airport to go home as a simbol of “good girl” in Indonesia.

  5. Mia says:

This is solely my opinion and anyone can oppose to it if they wish to do so. I think it’s somewhat skewed that she is an actress and was chosen to be Puteri Indonesia. Shouldn’t they have chosen someone who isn’t a celebrity to represent the minority?
But I’m assuming due to the poor financial crisis that’s sweeping Indonesia, there weren’t enough “everyday girls” to enter the pageant, thus leaving only the wealthy to enter such as Agni.
I’m not projecting any negativities on Agni per se. I just think someone else, who isn’t a celebrity, should have received the title. But by all means, if she was chosen to represent Indonesia in the upcoming Miss Universe, then I hope she brings home the crown, but I’m not getting my hopes high.

  6. finna cute says:

uhm, sometimes i think the contest like this is not useful and only to promote a certain product. but, in some cases, i believe that the “puteri Indonesia” who havebeen chosen have their roles and functions to promote Indonesia worldwide….

congratulation and do your best, agni….

one more, dont speak english too much if you think you’re not capable, coz you’ll speak in the name of Indonesia, in front of million people…hehehe…

  7. Peter says:

    Dia lucu!

  8. chelsea says:

Agnie is the most beautiful lady I’ve ever seen.

  9. Hassan says:

Well it seems most if us likes cheering a person with a beautiful face.

Let’s see how we fare when seeing someone with not so beautiful face, like Omas, Tukul, etc.

“Go, Omas! Make us proud, Tukul! You guys are sooo not beatiful, Love You! Oh my God, you guys are so not gorgeous! My support to you, you made the world so much better!”

What’s the point about cheering beautiful faces anyway? It’s not that they scalped their face into perfection, God gave it to them! Cheer the Creator, not the products!

Btw, I’m not jealous in anyway, in case someone had the urge to say that cliche word.

  10. Tomaculum says:

Chelsea, then I would say you haven’t seen my wife! 🙂

  11. Nitnot Cute says:

She is a pretty and smart.

  12. Winny says:

Well, no body is perfect. So what? English is not our first language. I believe Nadine did her best to win the title. We always say bad comments if someone failed. Especially if they represent us, like Nadine represented Indonesia. What would you feel if you were in Nadine’s position? It’s bad enough not to get the title PLUS she has to put up with all the comments we said.

Miss Universe clearly means a competition. We can’t always win for the first time. We always have to try and try again. Hopefully Agni will pick-up Nadine’s mistakes and make sure that she won’t do it again. We should learn from our mistake.

Well done Nadine! Good luck Agni!

  13. Mr Philippines says:

Fluency in English would not matter for me as long as you did your part and you express your ideas supremely. I would prefer and appreciate girls who try to speak english despite for the fact that she hails from a non-english country. Remember that we cannot achieve perfection unless we tried and not all illusions are false — sometimes they’re a sneak preview of what’s to come!

  14. Tasha says:

Agni is not that good looking and I am surprise she won. She probably is smart. As far as nadine concern, I don’t see why you need to speak English. I thought some miss universe contestant can’t speak English. But Nadine has good confidence that made her spoke English in the interview I guess. But she is still pretty and as far as beauty, she gave a good competition in the pageant.

  15. Debbie says:

Ms. Agni is smart and pretty lady, tha’s why she is miss Indonesian.
But I didn’t she her in any pictures on Miss ZUniverse 2007 official web ( did I miss?). C’mon Agni do something that could make the camera find you.

    Good luck.
    Debbie.

  16. Ipank says:

Pity. I’m not in Indonesia, so I won’t see the Miss Universe Event on TV as United Kingdom is not participating on the event. I’d really like to see how Agni would do in the competition. Well I guess I only could say Good luck Agni! Break a leg, or as many as you can if you have to. Hahahahahahahhaha.

  17. Fixmanius says:

Great, Agni does quite well, but my observation so far says that she won’t do better then Artika 2 years ago (got through to the semi-final). Go Agni!

  18. Surya says:

Agni is doing pretty good at the universe competition. I watched her video interviewed and the way she answered those questions were good. She seems funny and outgoing person. With her cheerful personality and having bright brain, I hope she will be in the top 10. Wish You best girl!

  19. M.Fadli Tirta says:

Miss Indonesian judgement is = Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Beauty, Behaviour,

    Brain..

There is so many ladies in Indonesia who have a great effort to the nation and local communities, they had genuine inner beauties not a polished one, and they had brains too.

I know a ladies who had double degree (it could be more) that teach abandoned tribe in sumatra island. She choose to guide locals which known as suku anak dalam than pursuing a great carrier. She deserve to be a true Miss Indonesia not Nadine or else.

Its time for Indonesia to get wiser, not dumber effort to get Indonesia to the higher level in the international communities.

  20. Assalamualaikum wr.wb.
    hai Agni you pretty lady…
your my inspiration by my song…
    thanks to you Agni…
