The PDI Perjuangan sees itself as defender of the interests of the little people, or wong cilik.

As an opposition party, for the period of at least 2005-2009, the Party of Struggle is ideologically pro wong cilik, it works for the the poor, the working class, and the under-priviledged. Pancasila is the “base ideology” and “life vision” and is to be implemented as a “working ideology” in regards to the monitoring of government performance.

In a presidential system opposition is carried out by being committed to performing checks and balances on the government. Government performance is to be criticised where its policies harm the people’s interests and alternatives are to be forthcoming. So says this post by a PDI loyalist.
