Knowhow – How to Put on a Condom

A study by the government planned parenthood body, Badan Koordinasi Keluarga Berencana Nasional (BKKBN), has found that only about 27% of teenagers know how to use a condom, with 1% of these youngsters admitting to have put this knowledge to practical use.

Considering that 20-30% of teenagers in the big cities have engaged in pre marital sex, this condom ignorance was very worrying, said Sugiri Syarief of BKKBN at the Jakarta Youth Fiesta 2008 in early November.

1 in 5 Indonesians was teenaged, he went on, and if condom ignorance combined with promiscuity continued the rate of illegitimate births, abortions, disease, and unbridled population growth would get worse, he said. republika

Condom Distribution

In Medan, North Sumatra, the provincial government distributes free condoms to prostitutes in red light districts.

The parliamentary faction of the Justice Party/Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) however is not happy about it, with PKS spokesman Zulkarnain saying the distribution of, so far, 2,880 condoms was not a good way of dealing with HIV/AIDS, since contraception was intended to prevent pregnancy, not to stop spread of disease.

Zulkarnain hoped new governor Syamsul Arifin would stop the policy and instead focus on helping prostitutes to reform themselves and find other work. beritasore

Wallet Find

Meanwhile in Palembang, South Sumatra on 17th November a 50 man strong troop of public order officials raided a high school, looking for narcotics.

The official who led the raid said later:

We didn’t find any drugs, just a condom.

A 17 year old student was found to have a condom in his wallet, but he swore he was just minding it for a friend. kompas

Oh the shame.

    Sputjam

Sultan of Ternate vasseldom included Irian and hence we claim it legitimately and with over 500 years of documented proof.

The far-right Dutch political party in 1923, the Nieuw Guinea Beweging, wnated DNG to be home for Eurasians- so they woulnd’t “contaminate” Holland.

In 1935 NNGPM was formed in 1935 by Shell (40%), Mobil (40%) and Chevron’s Far Pacific investments (20%) to explore West New Guinea.
During 1936, Jean Dozy found the world’s richest gold and copper deposits in a mountain near Timika.

Provisional treaty of 1945 then 1949 Wrenville Agreement promised ALL of Dutch East Indies Territory to Indonesia- including West Papua New Guinea- Dutch New Guinea.
In 1962 the UN sponsored New York Agreement found
    Dutch had LIED
Dutch had REFUSED to OBEY its OWN TREATIES
Dutch was creating a situation to provoke war between Indonesia and Netherlands

The UN supervised and APPROVED the Act of Integration with Indonesia.

Indonesian full legal and sovereign possession of Irian is not a matter of debate.
It is 100% legally watertight and the very best Dutch legal minds that Shell money can buy cannot contest it.

If not for Indonesia- Irianese would still have to see different doctor and ride separate bus to that of the whites.
Apartheid was spread everywhere by the vile Dutch- not just your beloved smiling singing (shucking and jiving) “noble savages” of Suth Efrikaa.

Well, when it comes to this matter, the ABC rule apply:

    1. A = Abstinence

One, especially those outside marriage should abstain from sex. These days? Easier said than done! – however, exceptions do occur.

    2. B = Be Faithful

Be faithfull to the partner, if one has yet gotten a partner yet, then be faithful toyourself to abstain from sex before marriage.

    3. C = Condomize
Well, this one is for those who could not curb his/her urge (for sex). Then do protect yourself.

Afterall it’s all a matter of choice. The government and schools should shift their paradigm in handling this delicate issue (sex in teens), other than advocating abstinence, and perhaps curbing them though religious approach – no one can be a police all the time, apart that family role plays an important contribution to minimize – however – educate them (on safe sex) along with the consequencies: unwanted pregnancies and so forth – it may automatically brings logic tothe individual teens to rethink whether is worth to lose their virginity at early stage.

Anyhow.. apart from “easier said than done” thing – there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. Kind regards from West Africa.

It is really a shame that Indonesian youth do not know how to protect themselves from pregnancy and STD, not only AIDS/HIV. I am a bule and in our schools in the US we had sex education classes in the 5th grade of primary school. True, that some people believe that sexual education increases the likelihood that young people will engage in sex, and it MIGHT but it is also true that that young people might engage in sex without any sexual education. At least if the students are aware about the dangers of unprotected sex and have the opportunity to buy and USE condoms, pregnancy and disease would be reduced.

Indonesian TV is as sexually explicit as American broadcast TV. Indonesian youth have access to the internet. While sexuality is repressed officially in Indonesia, the underground sex industry in Indonesia is MUCH MORE than in the US. It is natural that they would want to experiment with sex. But, they need the education to SAFELY make the correct decisions.

To shame someone for having a condom seems counterproductive. And just basically sad.

    @ PN:

So you hold that it is the manifest destiny of the Javanese to colonise various neighbouring lesser breeds without the law and drag them kicking and screaming to the light?

If you can be a man and call it by its name, colonisation, I’m quite likely to say ‘go for it: better the fuzzy wuzzies learn to smoke out their wives’ nether regions with aromatic woods and spices than eat their newborn babies’… but you gotta call a spade a spade.

Or is it only colonisation when whitey does it?

Over posting this evening, but never mind.

Are you refering to our Maduranese neighbours penchant for the tongkat, and the requirement to lightly kipper the old Tempik before use? Let me assure you that it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – I tried once with Mrs. Perkoso, and the phone rang during the process, by the time I got back, it resembled a taco that had been left out of the fridge overnight – terrible state it was in I can tell you. Next time i’ll use the microwave for sure.

After your comments about the Javanese, my wife is more than willing to “smoke out” your nether regions with her oxy-propane cutter, just as soon as she has finished eating the children.
