A suspected member or former member of the Islamic terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah was arrested on the island of Sumbawa.
Abdul Rasyid, usually known as Hamdan, a Singaporean national, was picked up on suscipicion of immigration violations in the village of Tongo on Tuesday, on Sumbawa, which is to the east of Bali. Later the police realised they had made some catch.
Hamdan is believed to be an associate of Malaysian terrorist Noordin Muhammad Top and a part of his new split-off group called Tanzim Qaedat-al Jihad.
Update April 21
Abdul Rasyid will be deported to Singapore where police have an interest in him.
Of course we will hand him over to Singapore. He is accused of crimes there and he is a Singaporean citizen.
