Just want to correct a misunderstanding. Please do not compare me with Purba Negara neither Aluang Anak Bayang. I am way below them, My last education was only SMP, not like Purba Negara who an ex TNI with maybe at least a colonel rank.
I’m just an ordinary stupid person as clearly seen on my messy English grammar.
    At topic:
I too placing a great hope for Obama, but with much pessimistic thought, since he was inherited with to many great problem by his predecessor.
To Mr. Obama, Please CHANGE the American policy on Palestina-Israel issue with at least neutral if not pro-Palestinian.
Very interesting thing if it really happen.
At Withey Bules: DON’T KILL OBAMA.

  2. ntut says:

If you read his autobiography, Dreams of My Father, and read his statements, it seems that Obama has great affinity with Indonesia much more than any other foreign country.

He lived in Indonesia for 4 years, went to Indonesian schools and socialise with Indonesian kids of various ethnicities and races (including Chinese-Indonesians, as attested by his former classmates). He described Indonesia as “magical place” and seemed to enjoy living as an Indonesian very much. He mentioned his period of living in Indonesia as his foreign policy strength during his debates with Hillary Clinton.

His step-father was Indonesian, Lolo Soetoro, whom Obama credited as a strong influence on him. Unlike Obama Sr the biological father, Soetoro actually had genuine interest in Barack’s upbringing, working hard to provide for Barack and his mother, and teaching him the ways of life etc. Barack’s sister Maya is half-Indonesian, who lived in Indonesia up until highschool, and who is his closest sibling.

His mother, after taking Barack back to Hawaii, decided she like living in Indonesia more than in America. So, she decided to leave Barack with the grandparents and went back to live in Jakarta from 1977 till her death in 1995. Barack visited his mother in Indonesia regularly every year during this period.

And of course, Barack chose to lived in seclusion in Bali for two months in 1994, along with his wife Michelle, to get the inspiration to write his first book, Dreams of My Father.

  3. Diego says:

He described Indonesia as “magical place” and seemed to enjoy living as an Indonesian very much.

Yes, magical place. That was then; before the islamists are making indonesia more and more like unmagical saudi arabia.

  4. dragonwall says:

I wonder if it had been McCain/Palin that had won the election.

Would Indonesians be so thrilled then? Or just because Obama have an Indonesian adopt father!

So does everyone sees American politic like what it is hapenning right now?

  5. Andy says:

igun-To Mr. Obama, Please CHANGE the American policy on Palestina-Israel issue with at least neutral if not pro-Palestinian.
Very interesting thing if it really happen.
At Withey Bules: DON’T KILL OBAMA.

Well considering Bush supported the Palestinian state I don’t see what you want now from Obama. America is committed to the State of Israel in that they must see the islamists on their doorstep don’t try to destroy them. I mean if you look close to home in Indonesia and Malaysia they are doing their best to destroy their own countries and crush all minorities along the way. They are evil parasites and the west must remain committed to the War on Terror. Same as we fought fascism and nazism in WW2. Similar threat but much worse as the islamists have support from their own civilians not only the military.

I promise I won’t kill Obama, hey I know you only have little education but surely you can read enough to see what I wrote earlier that the MAJORITY of whites supported Obama. The minority that would be inclined to kill him would be a percentage far smaller than the membership of Jemaah Islamiyah in Indonesia. Now promise me igun you will elect a minoirty to your country’s presidency (preferably chinese to get your economy rolling again) and that you won’t kill anymore papuans, timorese, ambonese christians etc.

  6. dragonwall says:

Andy, How about Mugabe..ha.ha.ha.. Inflation going at 2.3 million percent?.. Indonesia perhaps might be looking at 130 pecent?

It has been traditional that the Indonesian President should or must be a Javanese. I wonder why.. Someone will come out from the dark and perhaps say that it is because of their Javaneze Superiority..I guess..

And careful Obama will be brief by the CIA for his to be aware of threats…my..my next time instead of saying that you might want to say you are going to love him!,,,

  7. Cukurungan says:

Yes, magical place. That was then; before the islamists are making indonesia more and more like unmagical saudi arabia.

Magical place for you is not magical for me while magical place for me is not magical place for you. So let us work together to change your own place to become the magical place for your self and I will change Indonesia to become the magical place for my self

  8. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

Guess what. A friend emailed me a page off an Australian neswpaper with a centrefold dedicated to Obama’s background and life story. No mention of Pancasila, Kejawen or his Javanese stepfather who helped shape and pave his way to the White House. His Whitey mom and grandma took all the credits. Typical nonchalant whitey arrogance written with the same breath as hero Abraham Lincoln freed American Blacks.

  9. Andy says:

Well AAB of course not, looking at the track record of all Indonesian Presidents, I seriously doubt if anything he learnt from there would help him to run the greatest modern democracy in the world. I spent 4 years myself in your country and know full well that nothing I witnessed there (laziness, corruption, immorality) could help me to be successful in any real country.

  10. Rob says:

I do not know that anyone is arguing that Obama does not have an affinity for the country. On the contrary, what is being put is how familiar are Indonesians, for that matter most of the world, with his policies and record.

We all know he experimented with drugs, blah, blah, and blah. What is more interesting, and what should be more interesting for Indonesians, is his voting record on any vote that concerned Indonesia. Much of the debate has been based on the idea that because he spent time in Indonesia, then everything that an Obama administration does related to Indonesia is going to be golden for Indonesia.

This is unlikely to be the case.

  11. Rob says:

There is no doubt that Lolo Soetoro had an influence on the young Obama and perhaps even now. His writings say just that.

But if we were to believe AAB, then it would seem that there is a Pancasila inspired Kejawen soon to be resident of the White House. To dispute this leads to charges of jealousy and the impending doom of white supremacy and a colonial mentality presumably. There is no jealousy and the white supremacy to which AAB alludes must be long gone if the US can elect an African-American president.

  12. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

Ah, Rob. No white power gangs roaming the streets of Oz harrassing Asians, Blackies are well look after, all is dandy downunder. You are either ignorant or in denial, or both. Or if I recalled correctly, you ever mentioned you taught in an Indonesian uni. To protact an image of a nice and friendly Anglo Ozzie from an imaginary utopia may be sine qua non in your profession; you may fool many Indonesians who may never have a chance to visit Ostraya to experience racism first hand, but not me.

It is the ‘Asian’ thing. It will be a waste of time explaining the ‘Asian thing’ to a tetrapod. At least Andy, being a primate can be gloomed to carry our flag.

  13. Rob says:

    AAB…

Must be a white press conspiracy to suppress this news because I have not read about what supremacy gangs roaming the streets hassling Asians and Blackies (presumably these are indigenous Australians).

Perhaps you should read some of what I have written in more detail and you might consider pulling your head out the sand while your at it. I have not argued ever, that the treatment of my indigenous brothers and sisters was dandy. I have never argued that an apology was enough and ends the debate.

Why don’t we also talk about the Indonesian utopia where gangs roam the streets victimizing innocent people, here it is called sweeping if I am not mistaken. Yep, no racism in this part of the world. Nope, my comments on Indonesian have always been fair and reasonable. In fact, I have often criticized and questioned Andy on his views.

The majority of Indonesians are good people. The majority of Australians are good people. The reality is that in any group there are always some who spoil it for the rest.

Your arguments are weak at best, but they are nothing more than the railings of a man who by his own admission hates Australia but makes a living there (or at least in part). If you were a man of principle then perhaps your principles should prevent you from taking one cent from the devil that is Australia. But you are just hot air and bluster.

The reason you do not want to explain it to me is not because I am a tetrapod (classy term by the way — did you find that on wikipedia?) but because you can’t. This is not an Asian thing, it is a human thing. But what would I know about humanity, I am a tetrapod.

AAB, you are a man of class and good graces it must be the kejawen shining through. Maybe the Obama lesson you could learn is to have a little bit of humility and respect for your fellow man or woman.

Denmas AAB, Mister Rob, and Kang Andy…

I think this thread is about Obama.. not about race….

  15. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    Rob ..

Must be a white press conspiracy to suppress this news because I have not read about what supremacy gangs roaming the streets hassling Asians and Blackies (presumably these are indigenous Australians).

Of course you have not. See no evil, hear no evil ..

A student may be reading this, and it may make you a liar if you agree with me. A little bit embarrassing to admit , isn’t it?

Why don’t we also talk about the Indonesian utopia where gangs roam the streets victimizing innocent people, here it is called sweeping if I am not mistaken. Yep, no racism in this part of the world.

Show me a part where I have denied our shortcomings.

Nope, my comments on Indonesian have always been fair and reasonable.

Fair and reasonable to someone with a Whitey’s minset. Fair and reasonable on how Blackies should be fenced off in a reserve. There are more .. 🙂

In fact, I have often criticized and questioned Andy on his views.

Criticizing and Gagging Andy from exposing the truth is more apt.

  16. Rob says:

    Fullmoon…

Really? I believe that it was AAB who wanted to take this thread into a race discussion where he gets to “trash” a few “whiteys” and teach them a lesson.

My responses were directly to points raised by AAB.

That said, there are hardly any IM threads that have remained exclusively “on topic”. Too many trolls!

  17. fullmoonflower says:

That said, there are hardly any IM threads that have remained exclusively “on topic”. Too many trolls!

    yes…

Denmas AAB, if you want to talk about racism, please go to the right thread…
I think Koh Patung has prepared a special thread for all racist members 😛

    hehehe…

  18. Rob says:

    AAB…

Embarrassing? How so? Agreeing with you on what? White supremacy groups roaming the streets? I never shied away from admitting that racism is an issue in Australia.

Whitey’s mindset? Are you distinguishing me on my race and suggesting that I am a racist? Your arguments are hypocritical in the extreme. I cannot recall ever writing that my indigenous brothers and sisters should be fenced in to any reserve.

You are brave in the anonymity of the internet, but I wonder if you are man enough to reveal your true identity and stand by the words you utter as AAB, I doubt it!

Gagging Andy from telling the truth about Indonesia? Are you suggesting that what Andy says is true?

Once again, a one trick pony talking utter nonsense.

  19. djoko says:

That said, there are hardly any IM threads that have remained exclusively “on topic”. Too many trolls!

Its quite simple, don’t give them anything to feed off. If they post something, ignore it completely as if its not there, as its not worth addressing at any rate. I can’t believe people have no self-control and can’t take this simple step.

Though IM does have its use as a storehouse of proof for one of the most valid theories to have been developed in the internet age.

  20. Rob says:

    Djoko…

    Good point!

  21. Oigal says:

I must admit I was suprised that Rob responded to ABB, normally shows far more restraint dealing with the flies around the BBQ.

I see a dem senator has already starting pushing the Papua issue again…I will try n find the link..Indonesia might be about to find out the difference between the perception and the real politic that is the Democrats

  22. jami says:

@lgun, you do know that Obama is Half Bule.

and what does it have to do with Australians?

Bules and darkies? What are you people talking about?

Younger generation americans really dont care about “race”, and I think that is the really good thing. Race is a stupid concept made up arbitrarily by people.

  23. lgun says:

Come on, cut off that moaning and whining thing. This website was like a pool for shark, baracuda, piranha and any predator of words, if you just a ‘teri’, ‘muja’er’, ‘bandeng’ don’t even bother to post. go cry to your mama…

@Jami, well he looks negroid to me, why don’t you try to stand side by side with him, unless he follow the path of that Wacko guy. ‘Black covers a hundred defect’, like PN used to say, but of course i say it in positive ways.

About Australia, never mention them in my post on this thread, no connection & ‘gak nyambung’.

Are younger American don’t care about race and racist thing?, is there any survey or any scientific proof that back your statement?

@Oigal, Papuan matter has been cleared since the Pepera times, UN through UNTEA had been given authority in Papua/Irian Barat with resolution no. 1752 with the main task:
    1. Receiving authority of Irian Barat from Dutch.
    2. Regulating, Stabillizing, and govern this area.
    3. TO GAVE AUTHORITY and SOVEREIGNITY of Irian Barat to REPUBLIK INDONESIA.

We don’t even have to go through pepera to get Irian Barat. So, clearly any nation in this world do not have any base to interfere in Indonesian-Papuas matter. We Indonesian will gladly gave our last blood for every inch of our land. Now, how far would the Bules goes to steal and rob us. ‘Lhu jual gue beli’.

Anyway, Democrat or Republic, I don’t think American will gladly severe their relation with Indonesia, We are far more importance to them in this region.

  24. Oigal says:

Igun..You missing the point (surprise) Some Indonesians may think Papua is a dead (poor choice of words in fact) issue but it is certainly not to the outside world. The UN resolution was a farce and everyone knows it. But thats another thread..

Democrat or Republic, I don’t think American will gladly severe their relation with Indonesia, We are far more importance to them in this region.

This is the point, contrary to your belief Indonesia was far more important to the Republicans and Bush than the Democrats..you can bet Papua and other Human Rights Issues (alleged or otherwise) get a fair greater hearing under a Dem Congress and Dem Prez. Not to mention the Union pressue to raise Tariffs etc on ..guess who..

(As matter of interest, I believe it is in everybodies best interests for Papua to remain part of Indonesia but strangely certain Powerful Morons who cannot see past the next trough of money seem hell bent ensuring that doesn’t happen).

We Indonesian will gladly gave our last blood for every inch of our land. Now, how far would the Bules goes to steal and rob us. ‘Lhu jual gue beli’.

Perhaps you may wish to drop the racist, nationalistic clap trap..Already a shedload of loons playing that line here and they do it so much better..Not mention the fact that every day, thanks to a swag of self centered, power brokers “We Indonesia” is becoming more and more noble but faded dream.

  25. ntut says:

Indonesia does not have any major issues with USA, unlike countries like Iran or North Korea which have problematic relationships with the USA. Hence, US Congress and its members like Obama almost never need to create any policy related with Indonesia.

On the other hand, we should not underestimate the importance of having Indonesian sympathisers in the halls of power in Washington DC. During the Bush administration, there was one high-ranking Indonesian sympathiser, Paul Wolfowitz (Deputy Secretary of Defence and premier Neo-Con ideologue who came out with the idea of invading Iraq) who was US ambassador to Indonesia in the 1980s and personal friend of Suharto. Thanks to his consistent support for Indonesia, the weapons embargo imposed since 1999 was abolished by President Bush in 2005.

Now we have a US president who have symphaties for Indonesia. It is not wrong to have hopes that an Obama administration would have positive effects on Indonesia.

About cultural influences, Obama was certainly influenced by many cultural influences in his life. But I always see a little bit of Javanese-style politeness and lack of personal attacks (sopan santun) in his debates as opposed to the emotionally-charged McCain, perhaps something he got from Lolo Soetoro. It is this “coolness” that is being touted as one of the factors that helped Obama triumph over McCain.

  26. Enigmatic says:

OK, away from race debates everybody.

after the dust settles and we see mr obama in full swing, we should really ask ourselves 1 big question.

Americans have progressed, to a great extent, in their objectivity. They have chosen a candidate who is qualified, but more importantly, a candidate from a minority. Can Indonesia do the same? Can we become blind to colour and vote in a President who is qualified and not necessarily Muslim or a Javanese? Maybe a Christian or a Buddhist? Perhaps a Batak, or even a Chinese?

  27. Purba Negoro says:

    Funny=-
you’re a Chinese or mentally handicapped- essentially the same thing.
You make no sense whatsoever. Go back to your Nintendo DS and Cantonese boy-band gay pornography.

No false. The illegal Chinese occupants are nothing more than disposable puppets of the elites.
These unrequested Chinese squatters of Indonesia have nothing to offer our Pribumi society.
Their Hokkien/Fujian/Guangzhou culture, language and customs are unworthy of anything another than derision and ridicule.

If the uninvited and unwanted Chinese find so much fault with Indonesia they are reminded their permanent departure would be most gratefully appreciated by a Rakyat who will never forget the traitorous Chinese sleaze, usuary, hoarding, price gouging, criminality, sabotage, collaboration and corruption.

They have never been requested to stay by any official and quoting Habibie: “Go, then. We don’t need you. Someone else will replace you. You need us- not us need you.”

Furthermore the Javanese ethnicity currently according to latest National Census totals 53% of total Indonesian population, with 2% variance.
We are the most widespread ethnicity- found in every single island with major population centres.
We hold the highest civil, military, intel, academic and research positions and qualifications bar none. The Batak and other Sumatran come second.
Our nation was built majority by Javanese Kartini, Sukarno, Suharto, Sudirman, Sadikin, etc.

The best academic/scholastic results are from Javanese and Batak. Chinese score very poorly in comparison- hence their very low near nil representation in higher education or research and resorting to lies about persecution and outright bribery for admittance into Western universities (for the motive of gaining residency on completion of studies).
Notably, Chinese score worst bar none in standardised Indonesian Language yet wailing they’re Indonesian too- but obviously have nothing but contempt for our language.

We Javanese are indisputably the dominant ethnicity, the Sundanese, Batak, Palembang, Toraja, Mandano, Balinese, Bugis, Makassar, Madurese, Riau are all our loyal heroic compatriots and comrades.

Outlying primitives- rent-boys such as Maluku, Ambonese, Chinese and other traitorous minority should be mindful exactly who rules this nation and shall stay on their knees until they alter their treasonous ways.

We never forget a friend, and we also never forget an enemy.

And you can bet Barrack Obama remembers very clearly the parasite Chinese who built their McMansions on the sweat of oppresed Pribumi labour amid the slums and whom exactly the Ford Foundation was established for.

  28. dragonwall says:

Know nothing talk all nonsense GFN piece of uneducated homosexual sapien traitor who is only all about copy and paste links on second hand news and you dare say

If there is no Chinese then for that many centuries there will be no elites with only you feet licking hand munching chimpanzee jester around an arena of grown ups. The Chinese squatters are made up of personally acquired wealth that your so called Pribumi society so envy even you were jealous of that you show the outright discrimination when you should be sucking eggs from your father’s head matron.

Staying or leaving is for them to decide and for you to find out but anyway I would suggest that you dig a hole on the ground that is big enough for you to squeeze in. Because

***They have never been requested to stay by any official and quoting Habibie: “Go, then. We don’t need you. Someone else will replace you. You need us- not us need you. .

Right, even your half past six GFN VP that Blow Job Habibie (who is also a traitor) became the first person, the first president in the world to head a country with a discrimination and that makes he and you to be unfit to speak for the behalf of the Indonesian pribumi and that both of you are just about derision and ridicule bar none.

This already prove something that you are like a TOAD in a well with a kingdom of your own not knowing the outside world but consider yourself the greatest of all bar none. And by quoting

Our nation was built majority by Javanese Kartini, Sukarno, Suharto, Sudirman, Sadikin, etc.

Can you tell the world how many of them behaves like you? And by you saying

their very low near nil representation in higher education or research and resorting to lies about persecution and outright bribery for admittance into Western universities (for the motive of gaining residency on completion of studies).

Try showing us how you bribe into Princeton, Harvard, MIT. By word of speech when you say and quote *** you have already proven that the Chinese were persecuted bar none and the thinking you so perceive all these while shows a low near nil mentality when most of the time you were just but quote, copy, paste that nothing is original that comes out from your mind.

    Notably, contempt for our language.

So when talking to the Chinese bar none they were in contempt as they speak a mix of Chinese Indonesian or Indonesian Chinese?

We Javanese are indisputably the dominant ethnicity, the Sundanese, Batak, Palembang, Toraja, Mandano, Balinese, Bugis, Makassar, Madurese, Riau are all our loyal heroic compatriots and comrades.

You do not in anyway represent any of those you mentioned, not even the Javanese because you are a traitor, a discriminator, a communist, full of propaganda and hatred. I suggest in within the 13,400 or so islands in Indonesia you should look for one together with people like that Blow Job and start an empire of ningkampoop. Then you continue your story from there and perhaps one day we may hear something from there.

Outlying primitives- rent-boys such as Maluku, Ambonese, Chinese and other traitorous minority should be mindful exactly who rules this nation and shall stay on their knees until they alter their treasonous ways.

Your outlying primitive rent boys.? My. You should consider yourself kneeling abegging to atone your own treacherous ways. And

We never forget a friend, and we also never forget an enemy.

You don’t have friend because you have one too many enemies.

And you can bet Barrack Obama remembers very clearly the parasite Chinese who built their McMansions on the sweat of oppresed Pribumi labour amid the slums and whom exactly the Ford Foundation was established for.

You mean the Chinese building their what your so called McMansions on the sweat of What? The oppressed Pribumi labour? Then why Borong? Jangan dong, kampret! Kalau lagi mau duit jangan ngeluh. Did some of your family members involve in the building of McMansions Barrack Obama remembers?

  29. Czeslaw says:

Racism and prejudism is in all of us. Some of us learn to control it, and some didn’t as I can tell here. I see many in this blog refer to the Chinese people as the subhuman and most of the Indonesians are expressing their view as being non racists? I wonder if you guys know who is the heretic here?

As in this blog, the other place where the subhumanizm was pushed was during Hitler’s reign in Germany. Shame on you Indonesia for you subhuman ideology. Shame on you.

Regardless we agree or not with the U.S. on their politics, or the political view and abilities of Mr. Obama, he won the presidency in mainly a white and Christian controlled nation, regardless of his religious ties in the past? with the extremists. The Democracy has own faults, and it’s designed to collapsed on it own. So, be it as it is, Mr. Obama a Muslim raised or what have you, now will be the president of one of the most powerful nation in today’s world.

Being a Polish Catholic, I wonder how long I will still have my head where it is now, when I would proclaim that I am running for the Indonesian presidency and lets assume I live in Indonesia, and otherwise I qualify.

Thus far Indonesia is very far from freedom and religious humane tolerance. Long way to go brothers and sisters. Long way to go.

  30. ntut says:

I don’t think Obama ever had anything against ethnic-Chinese. In his book Audacity of Hope, he only mentioned on how army generals living in his neighbourhood (Menteng) were living luxuriously with a fleet of expensive sedans while army lieutenants like his stepfather was being severely underpaid so that his mother had to take-up teaching job in US Embassy to supplement family income.

Many of Obama’s friends in Hawaii was ethnic-Chinese. The current executive director of Obama’s transition team is a Chinese-American, Chris Lu. Mr Lu is a classmate of Obama in Harvard Law School who previously served as his legislative director, and is a member of Trustee Board of Princeton University.
