Islam Revert

Dec 20th, 2008, in News, by

A teenage Australian girl from sunny Queensland finds Islam in Lampung and becomes a revert.

Kim, or Kimi, otherwise known as “KimDonesia” (Kim + Indonesia), a 17 year old Australian from Queensland, the Sunshine state, once lived in Lampung, southern Sumatra, for six months, accompanying her step-father who worked for a sugar company, Gula Putih Mataram (GPM).

While in Lampung she says she studied Islam, and was moved by the passionate devotion of the people there to the religion, and finally fell in love with it, particularly the sound of the call to prayer.

After moving back to Australia she converted to the faith, or reverted as she would have it. Here she explains, in rather good Indonesian, how she came to live in Indonesia in 2007:

In this video she explains her religious journey – from Wiccan moon worshipping, to nothing in particular, to Islam – she even has the pronunciation right, Islaaam, – and how living in Lampung and talking to the people there was one of the keys to her decision to throw her lot in with Allah.

Youtube Mission

Kimdonesia has in the short time since her conversion this year produced dozens of Islamic dakwah (missionary) videos on Youtube, and has a bit of a following among some Indonesians, at http://www.youtube.com/user/KimDonesia.

Lairedion: The existence of The Creator is so self-evident and obvious. Just look around you, the beauty of creations, the perfection such as the air that we breathe: if the percentage of each oxygen and nitrogen were off just a tiny bit, life as we know it could not exist. You will not see any inconsistency in this creation, look at the sky: do you see any breaks, any flaws ? Then take another look, your vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.
Look at the stars at night, look at alternation of the night and the day, nothing happens in this life except there is a cause behind it !
Take time for yourself to ponder, to reflect, and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth and sincerely ask yourself : what is the purpose of life, why are we here , who brought us here , where are we going after death ?

Lairedion, have you seen anything in this life, came out of nothing ? when you purchase a computer, you know for sure that there is someone who put it together without you necessarily seeing that computer being made.

    peace !

You are a religious freak abeit a very stupid one.

  3. dumadisatrio says:

“0.0000001 % of the world populations, they are AAB, diego & their recent convert “dumadisatrio”.”

Ahh, the The Bandwagon Fallacy or Argumentum ad Populum, if you like Latin words. Mike you should know better than to use logical fallacy. You will never know urip sejati if you submit your mind to fallacies of consensus.

    Mike,

“if the percentage of each oxygen and nitrogen were off just a tiny bit, life as we know it could not exist.”

You are correct….different life would exist, or maybe no life at all, but you are backwards in your thinking. The universe does not exist to allow for Mike, Mike exists because the universe allows for him.

  4. mike says:

Also, if the harmony of human intelligence and stupidity are not in balance, AAB, diego and dumadisatrio would cease to exist.

  5. Rob says:

So, the argument in favour of God is that the world is just too beautiful a place that it could not be anything other than the work of God. And, secondly that Newton believed that science must have been created by God and has God sitting in a control room somewhere as puppet master extraordinaire…

This makes sense because all arguments against God would be defeated by the Newtonian conceptualization of God. That is no matter what can be proved scientifically to be otherwise, ultimately it is the hand of God that started the ball rolling. For example, the “big bang theory”. Believers can now accept the big bang theory as being a possibility (some jigging on the dates required) because ultimately God would have had to provide the spark that caused the big bang. Let’s face it, you can even creationalize evolution if you think hard enough about it

This is a cyclical argument without end.

Mike, I wonder if you can disagree with people without reverting to the personal. Just because others do it does not mean or make it right.

  6. Lairedion says:

    Elijah said:

Is absence of God provable and demonstrable by atheists?

If you claim God exists then the burden of proof lies with you, not with the other party unless unquestionable evidence has been given to support such a claim, which is obviously not the case here.

    mike said:

Also, if the harmony of human intelligence and stupidity are not in balance, AAB, diego and dumadisatrio would cease to exist.

Hear, hear, talking big about human intelligence when you, as a Believer, put faith in the cultural dogmas of ancient Semitic peoples of a bygone period. As Rob said your favour of God is that the world is just too beautiful a place that it could not be anything other than the work of God. Yeah, right and Jesus was born from a virgin as the son of God and died for our sins and rose from his grave three days later?

Let me address on of your arguments. You said:

look at the sky: do you see any breaks, any flaws ?

Through developing wisdom, logical argument, reason and scientific research we know what we call sky is the limit of our vision. Here sky is actually that part of space we can view with our naked eye and during daylight it turns sky-blue because of the atmosphere. When we ascend high enough we will travel through our atmosphere into orbit. Is it there where the sky ends when everything turns black. Or is sky a metaphor for space/orbit?

What still amazes me is that Believers/Submitters base their world view on what has been written down in the Bible and Qu’ran while we know these texts are the results of the limited understanding of humans living in the Middle East during those periods.

How can Believers/Submitters claim absolute truth in face of this obvious human nature of limited understanding?

Lairedion: statistics roughly show there are about a little over 30% of the world population are Christians and about 20% are Muslims. Just for these 2 already outnumber others, then add the Jewish. You can google it …

You are talking to a freak who wrote the above.

Wow … 60% of the world religion are Abrahamic. He will has a point if they are peaceful and living harmoniously; but he conveniently ignored they are tearing each other apart.

    @ Mike

Why not you use your spare time educate your money grabbing pri-hating clanmen to get along with the pris, instead of inflaming the situation by proselytising the locals who do not want anything to do with chink?

  8. Siti CathyJay says:

very long comment for Kimi’s coversion 😛

Leave her alone, she used to be unknown.
Let’s talk about Mikaeel Jackson instead!!
    He even wears abhaya here!
    That’s more interesting to see.

  9. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    Mbak Siti,

Anyone who filmed and showcased themselves loved the limelight. She will only be a nobody is she didn’t mualaf.

  10. mike says:

thanks to Kim, AAB finally has a life !

  11. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    @ mike

The spare time used to try proselytise our reluctant moslem peasants is best spent on closing the gap between the pris and your clansmen. Take the first step, go out and help our poors and the disadvantaged instead of languishing in pribumis hatred; Dragonball’s daughter is a model Indon-Chinese generation that disprove the myth that all chinks are parasites (if what he said is true). Show our poor peasants that you are different, not all chinks are the same. Show us that you are eligible to stay in our land like the first migrants (the Babas) who were loyal and mingle with us. Show us that you have a heart of gold like some genuine bules. The last pogrom, you have the 0.001% Chinese Babas to save the 99.99% of your deceitful clansmen from total annihilation. Remember there will be no Babas to depend on if another pogrom do pop up.

You accused me of being a racist. Why not point a racist statement out by me and we will go from there?

I don’t ‘claim’ that Allah exists. I am certain that Allah exists.

Existence is independent of evidence. Electron existed since the creation of universe but due to our own limitations we have only recently found the evidence of its existence. A human who is not capable of fully understanding the the atom:the building block of creation, how can he claim to be capable of knowing the Creator based on reason alone. So, an atheist cannot claim to be more rational than a person who is certain about Allah.

17:85 And they will ask thee about [the nature of] divine inspiration. Say: “This inspiration [comes] at my Sustainer’s behest; and [you cannot understand its nature, O men, since] you have been granted very little of [real] knowledge.”

Submission and Submitter are totally inappropriate words . The words used in The Holy Quran are Islam and Muslim.

3:102 O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.

3:64 Say: “O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah.” If then they turn back, say ye: “Bear witness that we are Muslims” .

Dr. Gerald C. Goeringer is Course Director and Associate Professor of Medical Embryology at the Department of Cell Biology, School of Medicine, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA. During the Eighth Saudi Medical Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Professor Goeringer stated the following in the presentation of his research paper:

“In a relatively few ayahs (Quranic verses) is contained a rather comprehensive description of human development from the time of commingling of the gametes through organogenesis. No such distinct and complete record of human development, such as classification, terminology, and description, existed previously. In most, if not all, instances, this description antedates by many centuries the recording of the various stages of human embryonic and fetal development recorded in the traditional scientific literature.”

“I am very much impressed by finding true astronomical facts in Quran, and for us the modern astronomers have been studying very small pieces of the universe. We’ve concentrated our efforts for understanding of very small part. Because by using telescopes, we can see only very few parts the sky without thinking whole universe. So, by reading Quran and by answering to the questions, I think I can find my future way for investigation of the universe.”

4:157 That they said: We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not.

19:88 As it is, some assert: The Most Gracious has taken unto Himself a son
19:89 Indeed, [by this assertion] you have brought forth something monstrous,
19:90 whereat the heavens might well-nigh be rent into fragments, and the earth be split asunder, and the mountains fall down in ruins.
19:91 That men. should ascribe a son to the Most Gracious
19:92 although it is inconceivable that the Most Gracious should take unto Himself a son
19:93 Not one of all [the beings] that are in the heavens or on earth appears before the Most Gracious other than as a servant.

    Assalamualaikum Pak Elijah

I don’t ‘claim’ that Allah exists. I am certain that Allah exists.

What about Jehovah? Is Jehovah another name for Allah? I am having a discussion in another blog, your opinion in this is very much appreciated

    Wasalam.

  14. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    @ Elijah

As Newton was investigating the universe, he became convinced that he had a solid proof of God’s existence. He wrote “Gravity may put the planets into motion, but without the divine power it could never put them into such a circulating motion as they have about the sun, and therefore, for this as well as other reasons, I am compelled to ascribe the frame of this system to an intelligent Agent.” God who had designed all this so perfectly, had to be a supremely intelligent “Mechanick” and extremely powerful to manage this huge universe.

Which book I can look up to confirm if Newton wrote those in bold and attribute it to Allah? If I am not mistaken, he was know for trying to find miracles in the bible (like moslem tried to find miracles in quran); and he also predicted that the world will end by 2060.

  15. Lairedion says:

    Elijah,

Why are you referring to a Japanese professor? Yet again you are unable to construct your own opinion but need the help of others.

Some more astronomical facts from the Qu’ran:

Q 67:5 And verily We have beautified the world’s heaven with lamps, and We have made them missiles for the devils, and for them We have prepared the doom of flame.

The stars can be used as missiles to throw at devils. Why don’t Hamas use them against the Jews?

Q 13:2 Allah it is Who raised up the heavens without visible supports, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to be of service, each runneth unto an appointed term; He ordereth the course; He detaileth the revelations, that haply ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.

Heaven is resting on invisible pillars and the sun orbits the earth. Yeah right.

Q 18:86 Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.

Q 18:90 Till, when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter therefrom.

Here it is stated the sun has a fixed place where it rises and sets. This also implies the Qu’ran says the earth is flat. Now we know the earth turns around its axis and orbits the sun and the sun actually never rises or sets.

Q 15:19 And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein.

One of several verses where the Qu’ran states the world is flat.

Furthermore there are quite some hadiths stating your Rasulullah believes the sun is stacked underneath the throne of Allah during night time.

All these verses shows the limited understanding of the Arabs back in the 7th century. We cannot blame them for that. But after 1400+ years (!) we can blame today’s Submitters for still believing this fairy tales.

Your buddy, the Almighty Allah, the Omnipotent and the Omniscient, got it all wrong on the rotation of the sun, moon, earth, basically how our day and night system works and the rounding of the earth. If he was so powerful he already could have known all this yet he chose to reveal fairy tales to your Rasulullah. Pretty lame.

  16. mike says:

Devils here referring to the unknown creatures that known as “satan” in english. You mistranslated lots of words here … the fact is that humans have the choice of doing good like the angels or doing evil like the satan.

Ok lairedion, we probably will never agree on the unseen matters …

However, we should agree on one thing : Israel with their zionism ideology has committed lots and lots of massacres until to this very second. Let’s work together to stop this act of evil. And just to clear things up, they are happen to be jews but this does not mean that jews are bad, because lots of jewish rabbis are against this zionism. Innocent children are dying for goodness sake, be sensitive and let’s do our best to stop this!

  17. Lairedion says:

    mike,

Believers will always twist their religious scripts to fit it for their own good. What I’m trying to say here is that those claims are reflecting the way people thought about unseen matters.

Good we can agree to disagree on the unseen matters.

The second part of your comment is better off in the other thread but I agree. Purely from a humane view, free from religious overtones and territorial claims, my sympathy lies with the Palestinian people, but not with Hamas.

  18. Barry Prima says:

    LAREIDON:

Maybe MAs Khafi can explain those verses based on a literal approach to the word of god as he claims very confidently there are no absurdities on that level..

Cmon Khafi let’s see what youve got.

Lareidon: I wonder why it is you spend so much time trying to prove the Quran wrong, I’m sure your time would be better spent on finding something else that woks for you.

Qur’an is not an astronomical book but the book to differentiate between bad and good and from there we will decide which goats shall be slaughtered and which sheep should be milked, If 1400 years ago Muhammad SAW told to Bedouin that the earth is sphere, all infidels would be able to enjoy the world without our disruption because Muhammad will never have follower like me.

  20. jsbst18 says:

Yeah it is people like Joao.. and not Islamics like the FPI and Hamas who are responsible for wars. I dont see christian Indonesians running aroung beating Muslim Indonesians if they dont have a christmas tree in their homes for xmas or I dont see Christian Indonesians burning Mosques. WHy cant the Indonesian government control FPI?

AND @ KIM…. no one CARES about your stupid conversion. You will see the errors of your ways soon enough. You will leave this fad of Islam when you are in university.

And what they mean by you will be a good spouse for an Javanese man is that you seem to be easy to control. Javanese men like to control their women.

Now if you want a GOOD indonesian woman, look for a BATAK 😀

  21. mike says:

no one CARES about your stupid conversion. You will see the errors of your ways soon enough. You will leave this fad of Islam when you are in university.

jsbst18: then why are you even making comments here if you don’t care?
The fact that you have been reading all people’s comments says otherwise.
I smell envy on the air !

  22. jsbst18 says:

@Hayley I am an American, bule and I had to convert to christianity to mary my wife, a Batak Christian. She is non-religious and trust me she doesnt like the laws surrounding inter-faith marriage either. But, I do believe that, I was told when I went to get my Buku Kawin that Muslim MEN can marry christian women. I dont know for sure. At least you get to STAY in Indonesian if you marry a Indonesian man as opposed to me who cant get residency by marrying an Indonesian woman. The government really has to change that law…

I consider Bali to be outside the scope of traditional Indonesia, in terms of its traditions and moral attitudes…

It would be nice to be able to stay longer term in Indonesia to learn the language better without paying for a KITAS. …anyone know a good book to learn Batak language?

  23. jsbst18 says:

@Mike what is that supposed to mean? I just hate when anyone posts anything that tries to convince you their religion is better than your religion.

  24. jsbst18 says:

@Mike I read your comments and you seem like a racist dog.

Hamas has committed terrorism. If you don’t agree you are blind…

So I guess you are for the FPI?

I am someone of the 21st century, I have no need for fairy tales to tell me how to live.

  25. mike says:

who says anything about Hamas … ?
I was saying we all should concern about the terrorism committed by Israel. How many innocent children have died so far ? this is outrageous ! And no one seems to care including you. You’re just being jealous that Kim gets all the attentions.

21st century ? Oh i see, people from the 21st century don’t read very well … and this of course lead to stupidity. oooh great !

  26. Cukurungan says:

I dont see christian Indonesians running aroung beating Muslim Indonesians if they dont have a christmas tree in their homes for xmas

I dont see muslim Indonesia running around slaughtering Christian if the do not have a cow to be slaughtered during “Hari Raya Qurban”.

WHy cant the Indonesian government control FPI?

Why Indonesia goverment should control FPI, we breed FPI to keep Bule kafir on bali beach only

Now if you want a GOOD indonesian woman, look for a BATAK

Every people in here understand that most batak woman are a very qualified house wife, they are strong and hard worker but sorry most of them are not quite good looking so from here I can assume you that you are a poor and lazy bule (GIGOLO) who want to ride on back of your wife

  27. jsbst18 says:

I dont see muslim Indonesia running around slaughtering Christian if the do not have a cow to be slaughtered during “Hari Raya Qurban”.

So you do condone killing Christians?

Why Indonesia goverment should control FPI, we breed FPI to keep Bule kafir on bali beach only

So all the people who are against the FPI are kafir? Moderate muslims are kafir? 21st century muslims are kafir??

If the Indonesian government supports why are there bills to BAN them? Hmm? Thugs, which the FPI clearly are, should not represent the ideas of a religion.

Every people in here understand that most batak woman are a very qualified house wife, they are strong and hard worker but sorry most of them are not quite good looking so from here I can assume you that you are a poor and lazy bule (GIGOLO) who want to ride on back of your wife

So Batak women are good for housework, only? Maybe that is how Muslims treat their women…
Let me guess you are Javanese? Javanese think they are the best in Indonesia… Why is that? So you think Batak women ae unattractive? That is a gross generalization. I am bule, as for being poor, let me just say I have sailed around the world twice, been to over 31 countries, own a Co-op in NYC, drive a Saab, and spend only 4 hours a day working. So am I lazy, maybe but I dont have to work hard to live well. And as for you, Where have you been outside of Asia?

I guess Islam teaches; Kill the non-believer if they eat pork, treat women like servants and prostitutes but dont forget to shout that Islam is a peaceful religion.

  28. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

I can see that you are the new kid around the Block – Blok M.

First, take care of your own ‘traitor’ kind – the bule convert (e.g mualaf-ed Barry Prima).

Secondly, FPI is needed in Indonesia to keep all bules in line. No one in Indonesia like them, but they are needed.

Third and lastly, learn some manners.
