Pedophiles

Iqhbal Sukokiman takes on the tough issue of Australian pedophiles in Indonesia.

Australian Pedophiles

Australian paedophiles keep washing up on our shores and it is time to do something.

Their modus operandi is well known: they are mostly middle-aged men, 40 or older, and pose in respectable jobs, often English teachers, in a bid to win the trust of their prey, Indonesian children.

Just last week, according to the Agence France Press, an Australian man, Philip/Philippe Robert Grandfield, 61, was arrested on suspicion of pedophilia.

This warpo, (Sicko #1), was a retired accountant and had been luring village boys into his house to play “pool”. His lawyer’s defense was amusing, the man couldn’t be a pedophile (he didn’t deny the age), because the boys didn’t refuse the money. Sicko # 1 had lived in Bali for 10 years.

In 2006, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Indonesian police received reports that at least a dozen suspected paedophiles were on the loose in Indonesia. The SMH reported it had uncovered,

widespread sex abuse in Indonesia, with Australians and other foreign pedophiles.

The SMH continued, that two Australians, language teacher Peter Smith and hotel manager Don Storen, were in custody facing pedophile charges.

I find it amazing that the Australian media and even Australian bloggers in Indonesia criticize this country for corruption and human rights abuses whilst often turning a blind eye to what their own citizens do.

Why are so many sickos coming here from Down Under? Indonesia has bent over backwards to be helpful (some have just bent over), including letting in Australian police to investigate the Muslim group Jemaah Islamiah in 2004.

To be honest, I don’t know why Australia produces so many pedophiles. It could be that the country, due to its convict past, has a greater tolerance for criminals. Perhaps Australia has a different definition as to what is acceptable due to the ratio of men to women from 1788 to 1840, or the first fifty or years of its colonial history.

Sicko Smith, for example, according to the SMH, admitted he had committed offences, saying

obviously, or I wouldn’t be behind bars

Once again, he denied forcing any of the boys into sex but confessed to molesting 50 of them and filming pornographic videos of them.

I can only hope Australians will read this article and realize that Indonesia has different values. I also read that Australians have widely embraced atheism and agnosticism, which is fine: Islam teaches,

your belief is yours, and mine is mine

But visitors, especially the Sickos mentioned above, have to understand Indonesia still prizes family values, based not only on religion, but also just plain human decency.

Also, Indonesians will have to take greater care, and not be so trusting. Some of those sickos might be reading this site, for example.

Finally, perhaps the Australian government could do a better job providing moral education to its citizens. Australians seem to do well at sports, but in some areas, as discussed their standards of behaviour could do with some work. What’s ok at home is not always ok overseas.

Life’s not all about winning Olympic medals, Australia.

Useful insights here in a story written by Marwaan Macan-Markar
… no doubt a 50 year old Australian posing as an English teacher.

However, the prevailing image of these sex predators as mostly white men, like Glitter, overlooks the larger and more disturbing truth that the majority of children abusers are local men or from other parts of Asia.

  2. Mets says:

Is there a criminal records bureau check system in place in Indonesia for people working with children and young people and vulnerable adults ….

Is it the case of Indonesia not having basic infrastructure to understand the problem as a whole in order to start addressing the issues of child sexual exploitation in Indonesia

Just curious…as interesting as this topic is…it would appear opinions are formed without any basis but on assumptions…

  3. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

I have to agree with Lairedion that Anglo-Celts Bules have an adnormal higher percentage of child sex predators in their midst. Probably it has to do with their genes. I am not at all surprised that the heritage of those Australian, American or Europeans pedophiles are of Anglo-Celtic background.

  4. Rob says:

    Lairedion…

So, it is your suggestion based on your anecdotal visit to Spain that pedophilia is non-existent there becuase of the “genuine love there is for children”? Interesting, that you point out links for me to cases in Yemen but it appears you have neglected doing some preliminary research on pedophilia in Spain.

Funnily enough I have already written about the Yemeni case in my own blog. I am sure that you do not read my musings there though as I do not read anything else of yours except what is on Indonesia Matters.

Providing the link serves no other purpose than to try and higlight that pedophilia is in some way consistent with Islamic thought and to smear all Muslims with the same brush as being tolerant of it. Are there studies that show pedophilia to be more prevalent in Muslim socieities than it is anywhere else?

No superiority, the Anglo-Celts are not the only white folk there is no dispute there and no claim to the contrary. I do not claim to speak for other white folk. However, if your intent was to smear Anglo-Celts as pedophiles then you purposefully ignore that pedphilia is a little more wide-spread than just the Anglo-Celts. This then would suggest that you are singling out one component of a much larger group, racial profiling perhaps? Racist and bigoted?

Lairedion, sometimes I wonder whether you are the fictional elf(?) character like your name suggests rather than the Indo-Dutch man that you claim to be! I could no doubt make similar arguments about you and your musings here. That is, in some way you consider yourself to better than other Indonesians because of your mixed heritage and which gives you some unique insight that other Indonesians might not or do not have.

Unfortunately, you do not represent all Indonesians although you might think that you do!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  5. Rob says:

    AAB…

Studies, evidence, or is this just your best guess?

  6. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    Rob ..

Rajah Sir James Brooke to start with ..

  7. matthew says:

sigh, the trolling on here gets pretty bad. I guess it boosts readership though, and besides I doubt we’ll see any end to the ‘Muhammad was a paedophile’ comments, so best get plenty more comments along the lines of ‘all white people rape babies’.

  8. Lairedion says:

Rob, I do not claim to represent anybody other than me, myself and I. I do not hide the fact I strongly dislike the ongoing misplaced arrogance and supremacist behaviour of the White English Speaking World.

You have a great Sunday too.

  9. Andy says:

I must admit I usually have a pretty thick skin when it comes to narrow minded racist rhetoric such as Achmad has espoused on this forum but this time I am pretty angry at what i’ve read.
Being racist and branding my countrymen in such a generalised manner is bad enough but please…I am tired of Indonesians trying to claim some higher moral ground when they have no leg to stand on.
I will give you an account of my time in Indonesia. I arrived in 2004 to take up a teaching post (to teach your children and make them better people Achmad, not abuse them) as I wanted to be close to my Javanese Muslim girlfriend. I gave up a good career and opportunit back home to be with the one I loved who beged me to go over there against my wishes. She spent that year cheating on me with a Balinese guy while I was working and feeding her. I stayed and married a Chinese lady a year later and we have since moved to my home, Australia. In my three years here I have been robbed three times. Both my wallet and two phones were taken and my ex -gf also broke into my hom while I was out of the country. Now, Achmad, is this the actions of a great ‘moral’ society. I’m sure if you talk to a number of bules they will have similar stories. Oh Achmad have you ever been to Stadium nightclub? Maybe you better get out more because the Indonesia you know is surely different to the one I witnessed. Australia seems quite orderly in comparison.

  10. Iqhbal Sukokiman says:

    Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear that. I think, yes it’s true, some Indonesians still need some Pancasila education. Pancasila, as you know, is a scientific philosophy designed to build a strong moral nation on the basis of its individuals.

If you were to study it as well, it could help you understand what we are trying to do in this country. Again, sorry if you had bad experiences. Why do you think your experiences were like that?

  11. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    @ Andy

If you are not one of those dubious English teacher, I don’t see why you should gag Achmad or us from exposing these evil masqueraders. As Mas Achmad said, it is a tough issue; We should be encouraging and giving moral support to any Brown men who dare stand up and tell White men to stop abusing our children. You seem to portray that robbing and being cheated by Indonesian women do justify that Brown children be violated.

Perhap Achmad should be more specific. I am sure he is not targeting the 20 million Australians. The majority and worst child sex offenders are Bules of Anglo-celtic heritage.

  12. Andy says:

AAB, you misquoted me. I never said anyone had a right to abuse anyone. I said Achmad had no right to make racist comments-is this a moral thing to do? And if what you say is true, where are your facts and figures to back up your claims. mmm

  13. Aluang Anak Bayang says:

    @ Andy

Are any of the past and recent offenders from mainland Europe other than from UK?

  14. Purba Negoro says:

How I laughed at the self-righteous indignation of the whites.
Rum, sodomy and the lash [prevail in your pathetic Aussie culture.

Sylvester- children are easily bought and sold in India and China- often merely for their organs- sold on to rich nations like Singapore and CHong Kong for wealthy organ recipients.

China and Chinese culture is hardly a model for comparison- for example, we do not eat penis in Indonesia- Chinese open restaurants specialising in it- with politicians spending top dollar for a “three jewels” donkey-penis special.

Don’t poke fun, when your glass house is made of Chinese glass- the quality control is crappy.

  15. Purba Negoro says:

    Andy-
Stadium nightclub is owned by the Chinese mafia.
    Like Mickey Mouse Club, Dolly,

Read Jakarta “Undercover”- all the sh*ttiest sleaziest places of Jakarta are in Chinatown- Pluit, Grogol, Glodok, Slipi, etc.

Even “Dragonfly” nightclub in South Jakarta is a veneer for a brothel. Drogaonfly is Chinese owned. The affiliated brothel I forget- but something claiming to be highclass with many CHiense mainland women.

Kramattunggak? Chinese brothel zone since the Dutch era.

1930s-1940s Chinese rioting in Surabaya? Caused by Japanese brothels moving in on their turf.

North Jakarta (90% Chinese population) is infamous for string after string of Chinese-owned brothel.

Strange- in my 90%+ pribumi suburbs of South Jakarta- there is minimal sleaze. Only Kemang- full of whites have- hookers.
Chinese much prefer the much cheaper-lah North/East Jakarta apartments (one apartment only cost Rp200 million (approx $20,000 USD) or wedding-cake Rococo McMansions towering over neighbouring slums.

Perhaps it is then cultural- as in the wealthy 90% pribumi South Jakarta suburbs- only le Kristal Hotel, Kemang and Blok M (full of Australians)- have street walkers?

  16. Andy says:

Purba and AAB, you still don’t want to deal with the problem your own people cause do you. AAB, if you were in any country other than your corrupt own, I would have you charged with defamation (look it up) for accusing me of pedohilia (as you did) and in my own civilised country sue you but in yours, I would punch your lights out. That’s provided you don’t bring your friends along because we all know Indonesians never fight alone for fear of losing. And you Purba, because the Chinese are doing so much better than you how about getting off your backside or getting an education the equivalent to them.

  17. dewaratugedeanom says:

This thread has a mean racist undercurrent in which I’m reluctant to enter.

Nevertheless I’m going to mention a disturbing event that happened to me once in Nogales, Mexico, close to the US border. A small boy of about 6 years came up to me, pointed his finger to my genitals then put his finger in his mouth and said “one dollar”. The child looked quite normal, not particularly poor.

I immediately crossed the border and never went back again. It still makes me feel depressed when I think of it.

  18. Iqhbal Sukokiman says:

    Andy,

Pal, Easy does it, Big Fella.

    Easy !

Don’t think anyone wants to punch anyone’s lights’ out. As mentioned, easy does it. Drink of water. Bit of a sit-down. One of the things we prize in Java is self-control, especially with anger. Perhaps this time you could learn from us. If not, it’s ok. We’ve been around for 3,000 years. We’ll be around for another.

As Pak Achmad says, “I thank you.”

  19. Andy says:

True Iqhbal you guys do exercise restraint most of the time. Except in 1965 and 1998. But you will be around another 3,000 years as will we. But we should all learn that racism is a disease that should be eradicated in all countries. That is the biggest problem facing a lot of people right now. This thread started as a racist piece of work and I hope those who started it will realise it is not the way to go to deal with a serious world problem as pedophilia. Cheers

  20. Iqhbal Sukokiman says:

    Pak Andy,

I’m not sure how you think it’s racist ? I wasn’t labelling all white people – just Australians — many of whom are yellow, brown and black. Also, I suggested solutions, such as better moral education for Australians. One idea would be to send them to our Pancasila induction courses. What do you think ?!

  21. dewaratugedeanom says:

    @ Lairedion

I do not hide the fact I strongly dislike the ongoing misplaced arrogance and supremacist behaviour of the White English Speaking World.

    I concur.

  22. bizriakisaputz says:

Please, there are far more white pedophiles than any other race and that is a fact, at least in the US, and the sample size is large enough that it is probably true of other countries. According to the FBI, 91% of all pedophiles are white males.

  23. Rob says:

    @ Bizriakisaputz…

So, this means that 91% of pedophiles in Indonesia are white males? Seeing that it is true of other countries and stuff therefore it must hold true in Indonesia as well…

  24. christy j walters says:

@Aluang Anak Bayang …… I’m Welsh (Celtic) I find your comment Quite offensive .. If you are referring to White English then you should clearly state either Anglo Saxon or Anglo Norman ..

Pedophilia is rife among the White Collar sector of society .. People in positions of Authority from the Catholic Hierarchy down .. Why that Is no-one really knows but it is a troubling fact !

  25. christy j walters says:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Brooke

@Aluang Anak Bayang …..Sir James Brooke was “English” .. Anglo Saxon!!

  26. Tia says:

maybe Australia produces so much pedophiles because it was a destination for Englands prisoners and unwanted, the criminally insane. etc. anyone in collusion to protect these
perverts is at fault and Indonesia and the world on whole must do alot more to protect children.. our most valuable natural resource. i really have 0 sympathy for these people because i know they are very calculating and will go on months and even years to gain a family’s trust in order to rape and abuse a child. these people are terrorists in the true sense of the word.

  27. Oigal says:

maybe Australia produces so much pedophiles because it was a destination for Englands prisoners and unwanted

Sorry to ruin your day and illusions Tia but you might want to start looking to closer to home.
It’s not foreigners running the dodgy flesh rings nor do they even make up a significant percentage of the clientele. Of course, it feels better if you pretend its someone else’s problem. Perhaps this person will shed some light on things after the cops finish with him..

  28. stevo says:

Oigal, as a holy man I am sure Hasan ensured the boys were around the age of consent [about 9 years old]

  29. Oigal says:

Actually Stevo, I was not joining the shrills in demonising Islam as Christian Choir boys do not seem to fair too well. Which is probably why whenever I meet a holy man of any description, I have the overwhelming urge to wash my hands.

Rather I was pointing out the silliness in identifying one particular nationality based on nonsensical prejudices or ignorance.

The reality are literally (tens of) thousands of women and children are forced into selling their bodies in Indonesia and only a tiny fraction of those would ever even meet a foreigner. As I said elsewhere , never seen a principle that a rupiah couldn’t buy.

  30. stevo says:

Agreed, I was going to say much the same, but someone came and bothered me with work matters !
