Is the Internet for Porn?

A new government agency to tackle internet porn in the villages of Java.

Some say internet porn is more addictive than crack cocaine wired, and 25% of total search engine queries are said to be sex-oriented toptenreviews, with Indonesians seeming to be particularly affected, especially in rural areas.

Lots of people are jointing.

With this in mind, the minister for Communications, Muhammad Nuh, said in Kediri, East Java, on 9th March that the government intended to set up a special agency to deal with internet pornography and porn sites.

The new agency was especially needed now because his ministry was busy extending internet access services into rural and village areas, and it was worried that village folk would misuse the new technology to look at dirty pictures and movies. republika

Why don’t they just leave people seeing what they want?

It seems the bigotry catholic southern europe 50 years ago.

Yeah..go Pak Nur! Block internet porn! 🙂

It’s the same for everyone. If men see a link to a porn site and it’s as easy to get to as a click of the mouse, well, they’ll click on it. For women, it is “rate your love life.” And in the old days it used to be – get your fortune told.

One thing I do know is that porn is bad for you. It is not the beautiful thing god made sex to be. Most of the time porn is ugly and negative. Who feels better after watching it.

Of course it’s funny, too. Sex is about the funniest thing there is. But it’s also powerful, and anything ful of power should be respected. Not turned into a hurtful panoply of circus images.

Many of my high school friends in America watch porn. It’s more of an oddity to us than anything else. It gives us something to talk about.

One of my friends likes to watch it with her boyfriend. They are sexually active. It makes me worried because even though they both know that what they see on those video’s isn’t the real thing, there are some images and concepts that just never go away. At some point things like that hit your subconcious, and whatever you let start to bounce around in there stays there.

I mean, we are confused enough about what is correct behavior anyway, let alone what is the right way to act during sex. If we let disturbing images like those you see on porn enter your thoughts there will be consequences. The world is sick and disturbed enough.

There have been modern philosophers, such as Lacan, who have argued, I think persuasively, that human sexuality is inherently pornographic and manifests itself through image and fantasy, whether on a computer screen or simply in your mind. We are not like lesser animals, we have a whole symbolic order of language and abstract thought. Remove the fantasy and you’re left with nothing. For Lacan, sexual desire is desire of the others desire, the desire to be desired and used by the other.

…not if you enjoy jacking off to internet porn whilst listening to Benjamin Britten’s Requiem Mass in A minor.

    Hi Casasa,

It’s the same for everyone. If men see a link to a porn site and it’s as easy to get to as a click of the mouse, well, they’ll click on it. For women, it is “rate your love life.” And in the old days it used to be – get your fortune told.

I don’t think “it’s the same for everyone”…Of course you don’t mean all men and all women…do you? Why do you portray men as the porn seekers, and women as the morally just? The pornographic pictures and movies that are being viewed by men AND women, are pictures and movies of men AND women….All genders are willingly participating in Internet pornography.

One thing I do know is that porn is bad for you. It is not the beautiful thing god made sex to be. Most of the time porn is ugly and negative. Who feels better after watching it.

Why is porn bad for us? What has sex got to do with porn? Who says sex is beautiful? (well it’s certainly fun..) “Most of the time Porn is ugly”? Does this mean that occasionally Porn is beautiful? Well I feel turned on while watching porn, and relieved and spent afterwards…

Of course it’s funny, too. Sex is about the funniest thing there is. But it’s also powerful, and anything ful of power should be respected. Not turned into a hurtful panoply of circus images.

Well, I’ll confess, I have never laughed during sex…maybe I’m missing something?
Yes I agree that we should respect sex, but we’re are not discussing sex, we’re discussing Pornography on the Internet. Yes I agree, Circus images dipicting the exploitation of animals is hurtful.

Many of my high school friends in America watch porn. It’s more of an oddity to us than anything else. It gives us something to talk about.

And here we are, talking about porn with friends….

One of my friends likes to watch it with her boyfriend. They are sexually active. It makes me worried because even though they both know that what they see on those video’s isn’t the real thing, there are some images and concepts that just never go away.

I think you and your sexually active friends should re-think the concepts of reality, and what is “real”. I think you are hinting towards the dipiction of more ‘unusual’ sex acts. Who says sex it’s only supposed to be about Vaginal sex (with the lights turned off)? if this is what you’re inferring…but this is “SEX” not pornography…

I mean, we are confused enough about what is correct behavior anyway, let alone what is the right way to act during sex. If we let disturbing images like those you see on porn enter your thoughts there will be consequences. The world is sick and disturbed enough.

Well, maybe YOU are confused about what is “correct behaviour”, and the “right way to act during sex”…I don’t think there is a ‘book of rules’ on this subject. These “disturbing images” that are plaguing your mind, what consequences have you experienced?

    For your last comment;

The world is sick and disturbed enough

    Look again…

I also think that the internet was made for porn. I use the internet a lot, and im always being bombarded by pop-ups and links to pornographic websites.

And the question “are you 18” is utterly pointless. Anyone can click the ‘yes i am 18’ button, and are free to roam the sites, soaking up all the bad images. I remember when i was a child, i could easily get past the protocols, and enter a whole world of porn.

I think there should be more done to protect children from these images, or all future generations will end up being built upon it, with false ideas and views.

I know that i wish i hadnt entered those sites
