State rail company PT Kereta Api (KA) Indonesia takes bold action to force sitting down on trains.

As of October 2011, officially, PT Kereta Api (KA) Indonesia will no longer sell standing room tickets for all classes, including Economy that means. Sugeng Priyono of the state rail company says there will be

no exceptions

This means that per carriage the maximum number of passengers, ie seats, are:

  • First class (Executive): 50
  • Second class (Business): 64
  • Third class (Economy): 106

    I also heard a rumour that air-conditioning would be extended to business and economy classes next year.
