Management Skills

Indonesians have poor management skills.

Tanri Abeng, the former minister of BUMN, the body that controls state owned business properties, says that the quality and effectiveness of management skills in Indonesia remains far short of what is required to bring the country into the First World, and things were getting worse in some respects. For example, Indonesia’s competitiveness rank had fallen precipitiously from the late 1990’s until now, he claims.

Tanri Abeng (MBA, State University, New York) told a Leadership Management seminar at the Hasanuddin university in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Tanri’s alma mater) that there were really no poor or backward countries, only nations that had poor management skills. Indonesians were not uncreative people, and presumably not coolies either, they just didn’t manage things well.

Recently the Yayasan Indonesia Forum had set some ambitious economic development targets to be reached by 2030, they including a national GDP of $18,000, Indonesia becoming one of the five biggest economies in the world, and having at least 30 companies in the Forbes 500 list (currently Indonesia has only four companies in the Forbes 2000, starting at 835th). Tanri Abeng said such things could only be achieved if business management skills got some serious attention from all sectors of society. But:

The problem is the effectiveness of Indonesian management is still far from what is required to enter the ranks of the advanced countries.

Indonesia could become a “champion” in whatever field it chose to excel in, because it had great natural and human resources, it was free and had much “social capital”, said the man who has held senior positions in Union Carbide, Multi Bintang, and Bakrie Brothers pacific.net.id. Tanri said if all the positive things were managed properly it would bring about the realisation of “Indonesia Incorporated”. antara

In these earth no human more get blessed than who really believe “Arabian tales”, God give Malays for their riding Chinese and India, God give Melayu Brunei the dayak land and oil and God give Arab Gulf and Saudi oil and workers from around the world plus slave from Java so the Arab, malaysia and brunei don’t need to work hard but their prosperity are not below the pork eater people who work 28 hours/day.

Cuk, if I base my reasoning on your logic, then God gave the US and Israel military might to kick moslems’ arses. You are shooting yourself in your foot. Ouch for you. 🙂

I see no reason why you are so anti-West, when it is your Allah who willed it. Ouch again for you.

For me, it is better to work 28 hours a day and beat our brain out, with a possibility to become a smart nation one day, rather than dreaming that one day we will be blesses and lucky, having all we need with no efforts.

If we want this luck, and if we expect the Arabian or bruneian or malaysian luxury to happen to us, then we will never make any progress, no wonder we have no managerial skill because we are waiting for durian falling from the sky.

oh my beloved students, US and Israel military might is a biggest God blessed upon the moslem, see how many moslem fighters now finding journey go to iraq and looking for death killed by US gun. US has created a disneyland in Irag for the moslem fighters. US military might make Japanese and Germany frightened but for moslems, it is only a toy to go to heaven.

There’s very very clear God order in Quran and Hadist that people should make effort to make their life because God won’t send Foods directly to people. Once day Chaliphate Umar raided a mosque in the morning and he found some people still pray there and He was very angry and requested people to leave mosque and find living.

Dreaming is strongly prohibited under Islamic tenets and there’s no luck coming by themself because God clearly said that destiny any nation or people will never change unless the people change it by their hand.

I have a friend who was in that program back in mid to late 80’s – he was sent to the US and earned his doctorate degree, when he returned to Indonesia he found that there was nothing for him to do at BPPT – i.e. those smart people were left doing nothing in the office. There is no project, no well-organized research. NOTHING

BPPT was a toy for Habibie with the blessing of the Indonesians money. This could one of the reason he is hiding himself in Germany. For his well camourflage corrupt money, Indonesia will have difficulty tracing them unless that ‘Helmet whosoever is willing to cooperate with SBY.

    except for discrimination for Chinese

If there is no such thing then there will be a lot of them working in the government office and perhaps Indonesia might not be in such a predicament.

The education ministry should initiate a school programme for this.

I did commented that Indonesia has the highest illiteracy rate and the last time you commented that UN reported Indonesia to have one of the highest literacy rate!
Under educate or lowly educated makes up a large part of illiteracy.

The only way for Indonesia to be in the five biggest economies in the world in 2030 is a global atomic war destroying almost totally most of the developed countries and not touching Indonesia.
That’s may be why Indonesia supports the Iranian race to the bomb

Well that is right Indonesia will not make it to the grade. No wonder that many terrorists were being left running around like monkeys in Indonesia.

Firstly, these numbers are very optimistic. With a corrupt government, unstable politics, inefficient economic infrastructure, majority of population are low educated, I don’t see how we can sustain 7.26% for 20 years period

The figures were in fact over exagerated. Indonesia will never see growth of anything exceeding 2% for the next 5 years let alone maintain it till 2030. Many were counting on those coming in or expanding but not many are taking into account of those going out or went into insolvency. At the rate the rupiahs is, it is like building castle in the air.

inflation rate of 5% and a population growth rate of 1.1%.

Inflation never went below double digit. Putting it at 5% is to make the Indonesians tenang aja. The population growth rate were not even properly reported in actual figures by censusw board except those that were born in hospital. What about those born in villages to the poor. The account to more than those under the census board. So is 1.1% a real time figure. NO. Because such figures could have derived from compromising the mortality rate making the figure that low. In actual it should be far more than that.

I have been working with many big multinational companies include Japanese and American Companies. Don’t talk bullshiit that the foreigneer don’t steal the money because hehehe I was learn from those foreigner how to steal money from the company safely.

So I suppose all Indonesian could report you to the WH so that your hands could be amputated, right!
In usual case these foreigners are unwilling to jeopardize their position for such things as ‘steal money’. Inflating the value by making ‘bon fiktif’ were acquired from Indonesians. Those foreigners hardly had those habits especially American, Japanese. Since you admit that you steal, you are not considered a good Muslim, right! And by further prophecizing your religion will in future make you somewhat looks less bonafide.

Indonesia never lacks management skills or capable managers. It’s just capable Indonesians that should have managed the country are doing something else

Because if those smart guys were to be put to work they are more difficult to control as they see thing from different angles.

Indonesian is the most smarter manager on earth and many of them even can manage $1/day to feed 7 of their family members

And you say they are smart? On earth? With $1/day? Using duck feed.

See how Malaysia Pribumi, they have “gengsi”, they don’t want to becomes slave and take care the dirty job because there is available for them Jongos came from their big neighbors country

And you are whining? If you want to accept the job as contract, why complain and it is always, slave, slave, slave. Otherwise don’t be a contract worker. Built your own business. If you accept don’t complain.

work as farmer in Java island are very bleak because they couldn’t earn even just for their basic need

You should train all those farmers to be engineers like you, right!

the pork eater people who work 28 hours/day.

The next thing is that you will come up with a 32 days month. It doesn’t mean when you want to lazy that others cannot be workaholic. When people becomes a workaholic, they are working for a cause. Their own cause what ever it is. They are achieving something whereas you are not. So why blame the pork eater. It shows how discriminating you are.

There’s very very clear God order in Quran and Hadist that people should make effort to make their life

Because you stole, so you don’t need this, right!
