Puger, Jember

The prostitutes of Puger red light district are welcome in Muslim boarding schools.

Puger red light district in Jember, East Java, is being closed down on April 1st and five Islamic boarding schools are prepared to give the then unemployed women a temporary home, says Hamid Hasbullah.

Hasbullah says the schools, located in the districts of Mayang, Silo, Jenggawah, Mumbulsari and Sumbersari, will also give moral instruction to the women as well as start up funds for any small business that the ex-prostitutes may want to start so that they can live independently some day. suarasurabaya

The upcoming closure of Puger continues a recent trend of red light districts losing their legally protected status.

:)) That sentence somehow sends the wrong initial impression.

  2. Ari says:

    I think it’s quite good, isn’t it?

  3. Madesh says:

    Andrew,

If I am not mistaken, they no longer need to seek customers on the street as they got many new customers in the boarding school.

  4. Hassan says:

Yes, and the nearby Church can be a great source of customers too, all those choir boys and lonely Priests and all, right Madesh? 😉

  5. Robert says:

    Hassan,

Didn’t the ladies lose their customers when the Church had to close down? Wasn’t this an illegal Church?

  6. Robert says:

    Andrew,

This is a kind of win-win situation, the ladies get moral instruction and the boys get to see real women and get used to them. For both parties it will a new experience.

  7. Hassan says:

Robert: “The ladies get moral instruction and the boys get to see real women and get used to them”

Of course, they must have taken the example from some American evangelists’ method of ‘saving’ the choir boys and prostitutes before they are ‘snatched by the devil’s right hand’.

Anyway, Let’s call it a day. This is waay too childish. 🙂

  8. Bas says:

So now they can get them for free, these guys are not always stupid after all.
