Porn Sites

Internet porn sites should be blocked by the government, say religious leaders.

Former Muhammadiyah leader Syafi’i Maarif, generally considered to be more relaxed in his understanding of Islam than the current Muhammadiyah boss, Din Syamsuddin, urges the government to take action against web porn sites.

Indonesia was lagging behind its neighbours Singapore and Malaysia in the interception of internet porn, he said in Jakarta on the 20th during a discussion entitled “Peran Pemuka Agama Dalam Pengembangan Keluarga Sejahtera”, or the Role of Religious Leaders in Creating Good Family Life”.

He believed that porn could damage morality and increase crime rates, and that people who watched porn became only half human, morally speaking. detik

Separately on the 21st another moderate Muslim leader, Tholchah Hasan of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), agreed, saying also that the Indonesian government had to follow the lead of Singapore and Malaysia and get tough on porn websites. Hasan said that today there were four million pornographic websites in the world, which could be accessed by children and caused untold moral damage.

Hasan, who was minister of religious affairs under president Abdurrahman Wahid and comes from Tuban, East Java, cited an example known to him. A 13 year old girl who had fallen pregnant told her doctor that sexual relations with her older brother had been initiated after the siblings had often seen their parents watching porno movies on DVD. antara

    Does censorship work?

Does it protect youths and children from exploitation?

Does sex or pornography really corrupt the mind of an adult or is this corruption caused by a skewed sense of morality imposed on us by others?

Who has the right to decide what material I view as an adult? The State? God?

If it is the State then why should it be do they have any more moral authority to make this decision than I have to make that decision for myself?

If God is truly unhappy with those of us who have seen an image of a human being in their naked form because this is pornography then I am sure that I will get my comeuppance from God on the day of judgment.

The debate about porn should not be whether it is available but rather of means of ensuring that those involved in it are protected from harm. The debate in my mind is not whether child porn is OK, it is not! The debate though is whether consenting adults can view images of other consenting adults in their full glory!

I guess though rather than deal with more pressing issues, a debate about pornography and decency is a sure fire way to deflect attention from something important like fuel prices! If I was the government now is the perfect time to reinvigorate the porn debate!

Most human beings are voyeurs, look how many gather to look at a train wreck, car crash, brawl in the street, and any disaster that happens, of course they’ll watch porn.
The old religious hypocrites are still trying to control, what you watch, wear, think Etc,. and some of them are the biggest offenders.

To all you above, its really something no one can stop and its not going to be easy for the Govt. incase the Govt does stop it then it will lead more so to physical activities between the youth.
On the whole if one sees the poverty in Indonesia thats where the Govt. should concentrate on, there are thousands of Indonesians who are lacking money, it can be seen from so may who travel to Jeddah for pilgrimage just that later they can escape and earn some money before they return back to Jakarta. Many young ladies are literally being used for all purpose services including household work.
The ladies have no choice, but to go along with it and return back with some earnings.
Please ensure they have jobs and live a decent life.
