Partai Hanura

Dec 22nd, 2006, in News, by

Army pensioners, including General Wiranto, declare a new political party, Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat (Hanura).

Retired military commander General Wiranto and a number of retired generals yesterday formed a new political party in preparation for the general elections in 2009, the Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat (Hanura), or People’s Conscience Party.

Besides Wiranto other former military commanders involved include Lieutenant General Suaidi Marasabessy, General Fachrul Razi, General Subagyo H.S., (police) General Chairul Ismail, and Admiral Bernard Kent Sondakh.

Suaidi said however that former military leaders comprised “only” 30% of the 100 declarators of the party.

Among the civilians who have joined the party are Fuad Bawazier and Samual Koto, both former executives of the National Mandate Party (PAN), and Djafar Badjeber, a former secretary general of the Reform Star Party (PBR). antara

Additionally, former Economy minister Kwik Kian Gie, former Golkar party chairman Akbar Tanjung, former vice president Try Sutrisno, and former president Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), witnessed the declaration of the party on the 21st. Gus Dur gave a speech in which he said Wiranto was well suited to become a national leader. antara

Fuad Bawazier said previously that the party was founded on Pancasila principles, was inclusive, not for the elite, and hoped to become one of the top three parties. republika

Wiranto was a presidential candidate of the Golkar Party in the presidential elections in 2004 who came third with 22% in the first round of voting. His running mate was Solahuddin Wahid of the PKB.

The new party seems to be an outgrowth of the Gerakan Kebangkitan Indonesia Raya (GKIR) (see Nationalism, Wiranto, & Kwik Kian Gie, June 2006).

General Wiranto says Hanura will seek to imitate the Justice Party, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS), in its upholding of high moral values and good character, and will seek to recruit members who are pure of heart.

He said the party had managed to attract a number of experienced political figures including Nico Daryanto, Fuad Bawazier, Samuel Kotto (formerly of PAN), Djafar Badjeber (the founder of the PBR, Partai Bintang Reformasi) and Ary Mardjono (former secretary general of Golkar). antara

  5. Saipul says:

Even though I’m a Westerner, I have to say that this nationalist party may in fact be the best Indonesia has to offer. Wiranto’s aim was always to carry on the Suharto legacy. Every political party these days seems to be an odd mixture of populist ideology (Islamism) and personal ambition. Even though Wiranto is a war criminal, I’m hoping that this new party might mark the beginning of the rise of a nationalist progressive movement in Indonesia. It’s time to roll back shariah, force all religious establishments under the Pancasila framework, and continue the process of building a strong Indonesia.

  6. Munafikbangetloepade says:

    Better yet: rainbow color.

  7. Manuel says:

  8. Bas says:

Wiranto, the guy who liked to shoot students then put them in a container and dump the packet in the sea. I don’t know how many opponents have been killed that way. Probably hundreds of them. Some of his ex servants are talking too much. Shame on this assassin.

In a long line of Political parties Indonesia gives birth yet to another party. This is a good Political Development, but Politics alone does not bring home food for the starving and poor people of Indonesia. Nor does it give shelter for the homeless. I have the highest respect for Pak Wiranto as a Nationalist but we need more of a national program than just mere rhetoric and promises. I would joint as would millions of other Indonesian if this party gives true value and meaning to become INdonesian. We have enough of “third Class” citizens of the world, it is time we realize our true worth as a nation under god that respect every individuals and the rights of that individuals. Pak Wiranto should be a good mobilizers of the Nation. All the best to Pak Wiranto.

I and my large community will support you pak Wiranto on race 2009. Indonesia is a big country and a lot of problem in it, but we don’t have a brave and a brains leader as former Army General Wiranto. I believe that our people will choose you and agree to pointed out yourself to be Indonesian President on terms 2009-2014. The currently of the Indonesian ladership very bad and unable to solve the problem includings: bad security, worse economical, political conflict and to eradicate terorist. Many foreingners said that Indonesia today will go to be failed state! In fact and supported many evidences if Indonesia became worse everything, bad security, corruptions, jobless problem and terrorism. I hopefully, Mr.Wiranto the one and only of be the best Indonesian President candidate, and depend on you Mr Wiranto my country survives! Good Bless you General Wiranto our people look forward your Leadership.

  21. Harris says:

Given all the double standards that have been said and implemented, I would like to join your Party Pak Wiranto with the understanding that we should be concerns about our People and put them as our priorities before the interest of other nations. We have search too much outside and never really look deep enough to see that if we join hands we could eradicate poverty in Indonesia and have a common Indonesia that would bring in prosperity not from Outside but thru ourselves a country that we could be proud of to say ” Indonesia”.

How can I join your party and contribute to the Indonesian Cause.
Can you give me direction how to join and what I could effectively contribute, I am a Political Science Graduate students with a Master in BUsiness Admin degree and have International experiences working for INGO and Foreign Govt Agencies.

  22. Oigal says:

“Can you give me direction how to join and what I could effectively contribute,”

Perhaps you could start by asking the Timorese and mothers what they think of this piece of humanity.

  23. Ervin Sofyan says:

  25. Selfi Pondaag says:

I’m very proud as a Hanura’s leader in Sulut after read this web. Because more of participant that joint here are briliant thinkers. So they said about realities of HANURA in the middle of others great Political Party. I’m agree with them. But there are some participant who are hopeless and obnoxious about HANURA. I think they’re JEALOUS. “Dog barked, contingent just go” it means “Let it be. Go HANURA, Glorious HANURA”.

If you want to sharing with me about HANURA, this is my e-mail: astafida@yahoo.com. thank you. GREETINGS HANURA.

  26. Observer says:

From a recent in depth conversation I had w/ MPR leaders, it is apparent that this party is formed solely to represent the interest of the Army personnels that allegedly has been overlooked by the current President. They believe Hanura is growing at substantial rate and will be one of Indonesia’s leading political parties.

Am definitely looking forward to seeing how they do on the upcoming election.

Ps: Someone with a record as severely tainted as Wiranto can never be President. Sorry to burst your bubbles. But his human right violation concerns are at multilateral level.

  27. Observer Too says:

Fuad Bawazier and Kwik Kian Gie were both practitioners who delivered. Combining their skills and decisiveness gives me the confidence that Indonesia economy will prosper to new heights, the possibility is so strong that it alone will raise Hanura among the top three parties in 2009 – needless to say, Wiranto’s strong arm will cut down on our so called High Cost Economy (corruption).

    God Speed Hanura
