International Marxist Movement

Dec 16th, 2006, in News, by

A meeting of Marxists was broken up roughly in Bandung.

The seminar, on the theme of “Gerakan Marxis Internasional”, the International Marxist Movement, was attended by about 50 people and held at the back of the Ultimus bookshop near the Pasundan university in Bandung on the evening of the 14th of December. It appears that the event was organised by people connected with the website http://rumahkiri.net/. Twenty minutes after it began dozens of “youths” from a group called Persatuan Masyarakat Anti Komunis (Permak), the Anti-Communist Society, descended on the meeting and chased away the participants, who were mostly students.

Karl Marx
Unpopular German philosopher.

Two of the organisers of the Marxist get-together, Marhaen Supratman, real name Haryanto Darmawan, who is visiting from Canada, and Sadikin, or Sodikin, were bustled into a car by the angry mob and later taken to the police station. The police then arrived at the bookshop and arrested a further seven people, Pamuji, Husni, Dany, Fuad, Rilyan, Topan, and Didin. Central Bandung police chief Mashudi later said: tempo

This event doesn’t have permission [to be held].
(Kegiatan ini tanpa izin.)

The total of nine men arrested, plus a few others it seems, were held and questioned for twenty-four hours but no charges were laid and they were released. detik

Last May a similar event occurred in Bandung, when a discussion of the events of 1965/66, in which the Communist Party of Indonesia was violently liquidated, was broken up by another mob of youths. Policeman Mashudi was on duty then as well.

As far as communist revolution is subversive, nothing can be discussed about Communism without being outlaw. The aksi sefihak of the PKI have been savagely venged : it should be enough…
According to the Jakarta Post, “Adang, who with about 20 other people arrived at the store in a pickup truck with the name of the Panca Marga Youth organization written on its side, said his father was a victim of the PKI and he did not want communism to take root in Bandung.”
Many of my Tibetan friends who fled the Chinese communist invasion in Tibet have also lost parents and friends but they know it had nothing to do with Communism, only with individuals and groups having interest in annihilating some other individuals and groups. Remember that today’s China is called “communist” !
Here, the backing of Permak by police is an antidemocratic mistake, even if justifiable by “article 107 of the Criminal Code, on spreading Marxism, Leninism and communism”.
Were the guys in Ultimus Bookshop “spreading” anything, or were they else discussing economics, politics, life and things — diskusi tentang Filsafat Sosial dan Ekonomi Politik… ?
What about a Permal : Persatuan Masyarakat Anti Lapin.. euh, Lumpur ?

  2. 1ndra says:

Yeah, true, but here Indonesia IS a republic. So anything related to other ideological activities is prohibited as stated in TAP MPR.

  3. Tomaculum says:

    1ndra,
Germany is also a republic, but right there comunism is not prohibited, the same in France etc.
The prohibition of any other ideologism is not forbidden in a democracy , only under a dictatorship are difffrent ideologies not allowed (former USSR, current North Korea).
The anxiety, distrust and challengen of comunism in Indonesia are caused by the happenings around the 1965 (and maybe also 1949). In this context in Indonesia the comunism is being equated with atheism, so the religious groups refuse this ideology. This all discharge to the adjunctive prohibition of comunism in the TAPs of MPR. Inprinciple is this a contradiction against the democracy.

Ask the protester, why they are against the comunism.

Vigilante justice and anarchy, like many times in the past. And the anxious law “guards” wag the tail.

  4. 1ndra says:

The ideology isnt bad, but the carrier was, and now it’s became nightmare for most people.
Communism talks shouldnt be prohibited, but when they work to project a revolution, well that’s bad, no one agree.

Right, and the same canon for some other “ideologies” too, hm, 1ndra?

  6. 1ndra says:

Revolution will take victims, between the one who agree and the opposite.

  7. Ismayanto Prihandariyanto says:

If communism is regarded a danger idea. I will say :
1.Communism is atheism. Why don’t they see atheistic thing in the name of God ; look ! when someone is sworn using Bible or Koran and still he corrupts; isn’t he an atheist?
2.Communism is danger for destabilizing Indonnesian state ? Why dont’ they forbid the teaching of Hizbut tahrir or Bassyir who declare anti Pancasila( not like The NUists and,Mohammadiyah) or even the evangelists of Americanized people who want to convert Indonesian people ( not like the Lutherans and Catholics who love this state)??? For the two sides the other will be on eternal fiery hell ??? Why don’t they hang the corruptors ?
Teach us, Oh Bigotry ! why don’t you understand there is real class problem in this state !!! Someone can get married more than one wives, but others even masturbate will be put in hell!!! Someone can have houses even others live in not their own slums. Someone can easily inherit his father occupation on government positions, and the rest are jobless on street!!!
Teach us Bigotry how to solve the misery ???

    Ironic…
That the first word that I want to say to all the person who attended that discussion.
Mos of them ( who attend the discussion ) is a moslem.

Is he will lead us to the truth???
Can you just answer it first???
