I added a section for hotels recently, but it's rather empty in terms of actual reviews so if anyone can spare a moment to write their comment/opinion on a hotel that they've stayed at in Indonesia, that would be much appreciated. I mean write the comment/opinion on the actual hotel's page over here.

You can use this search box to find a hotel you've stayed at:

Or browse the full list of hotels listed ordered by area/city:

http://hotels.indonesiamatters.com/list/

These are some of the main areas dealt with:

Hi All,

My hotel of choice in South Jakarta is the Gran Mahakam Hotel.  Smallish but very stylish.  Clean, cosy rooms and great staff which due to the size of the hotel get to know you very quickly.

The ideal hotel for a business meeting as classy and professional enough to set an image without being an over the top monster covered in marble like some of the larger Hyatts etc.LaughLaughLaughLaugh

Well reknown for its meals and service.  Prices about 800,000Rp upwards.  Only downside, they simply do not grasp the concept of providing the odd upgrade to regular clients.

Nikko Hotel,  Clean and professional to the point of anal retention.  Don't dare ask for anythign outside the experience of the duty manager or you will hear the wheels falling off from your room.  Moderatly expensive.LaughLaugh

Shangri-la Hotel

High price (for Jakarta) 2 million Rp (ish) and up. Five plus star hotel and simply one the best steaks in town (BATS BAR).  Rooms are outstanding in decor and appointments.  Its worth going for steak and staying until 10:30pm, when the lights go dim and nightstalkers step out of the walls.  Very x-files actually.LaughLaughConfusedConfused

Sari Pan Pacific.

Great Staff, Well priced 4 Star shame about the clientele..Confused

Great Oigal, thanks, I didn't make myself clear though, I meant give the comment on the actual hotel's page on the site, not on this thread, I'm always doing this, thinking things will be obvious to people but they're just not….

So I've got

gran-mahakam-hotel

shangri-la-hotel

I haven't got the other two you mentioned, so maybe you can copy paste what you wrote for the ones I have got above over to those pages, or I can impersonate you and do it myself, but not sure about the rating out of 5 for each.

Not you fault Patung, thing is I fit my IM time in amongst everything else that is going on during the day (mutli-tasking but poorly). So I tend to skim read and respond in the same way (as I am sure you have noticed).

Want to impersonate me..easy couple of spelling errors, annoy a yank and trip over grammer..you're in

Thanks for putting them over there Oigal….yeah most people skim stuff on the internet….I'm not being paid to have hotels listed there, but if you click the 'check rates' link and book the hotel at agoda.com then I'll get a commission, Agoda does have Nikko on their list and I'll add it in shortly, Sari San Pasific is sort of there too but seems to be on the outer.

Thanks Mate, my real job takes me all over Indonesia so not too many places I have not tried a number of hotels so I will see if I can help over the next couple of weeks.

For what is worth, I am at the age where 3 star and below is not worth the hassle and ultra 5 star is just not worth the money. I look to be spoilt but don't want clients to think they are funding a lavish lifestyle.

I have done the home stay thing (student at Nusa Cedana Uni Kupang) fun but another life.

Although for a weekend of affordable decadence once a year..Try the Presidential Suites at the Shangri-la Surabaya.  Everyone who can afford it should (under 2.5Mill a night…but ahhh what decadence!!)Laugh

I fixed that up, looks like you copy-pasted from somewhere maybe, to do that click the "T" button that says "Paste as Plain Text" when you hover over it.

I'll look forward to whatever you've got, you've already rocketed Shangrila to the top spot in central Jakarta …power… Laugh

Seriously, I enjoy taking visitors to the BATS bar early in the night..Fantasic Steaks (expensive but fanastic) then watching their faces as at 10:30 the lights go dim, music gets lound and the nightstalkers literally step out of the walls and fall from the roof.  Its a entirely another venue, atmosphere and very very X-Files.  Then of course, you have to try and get up the stairs before midnight without arousing the nightstalkers…many a poor boy…(but again over priced)

And sorry techno leperConfused

I stayed at the Manhattan hotel in Jakarta recently, wrote a review of it, it's not bad, I can't understand the star rating thing though, it's 5 star but the price was only around $60 for executive room, whereas some five stars are $200 plus, I don't know if you're just paying for the name/brand or what…

Oh, and Nikko is there now. Laugh

You mean Bali? I started a topic on that – Bali Family Hotel. But if Jakarta although I think you'd know better than me I did just come across this page- http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/…..efault.htm
Personally I think with kids you need a place that offers kids programs where you can er, just leave them for the day.

Naagh actually I meant Jakarta..Sorry  I was being suitably vague again.  I know plenty of 'business type" hotels but for the youngens not so up to date.

Thanks I'll check it out the Ritz

Yeah, the only one I can get any available rooms for is http://hotels.indonesiamatters…..ggi-hotel/ for late November, sometimes, not other times, weird,….. with these more obscure places often their coverage isn't good at all, they've got bigger fish to fry.
