Religious education should never take place in public schools. In a secular society, there must never be an attempt by the governemtn to establish religion. Religion is a private matter.

The education systems and laws must be changed, as a secular country religion education cannot be taught in government schools..unless in private schools or in pesentrens. For secular school it must include Civic education in their education curriculum.

I couldn’t agree more with you Bradlymail. We even have this kind or religion course at university level. I will opt for a comparative study of religion in spite of religion course of your own religion.

Honestly I think that as Indonesia is quite religious anyway, we can always find a time for the religion education. It is a common at rural areas to send their kid to mosque before dinner for two hours two to three times a week to learn Quran.

Religion should never be taught in school. If I had children, I don’t want anybody to teach them religion because that is my responsibility. What is the guarantee that the teacher is not a Taliban follower?
