Nobody was saying “Im voting for SBY because his wife didnt wear a jilbab”

I would, if I was allowed to vote. :-)

But Inul is still my first choice.

    Go Inul, go. Bisa. Merdeka!

So western dress code is OK, but “arabian” dress code is not?

    Yes.
Politicians don’t dress western-style to show cultural-religious supremacy… Arabian dress is.
I’m talking politics, not ordinary Indonesians.

Inul is still my first choice

Careful. Inul has sometimes obeyed puritans’ demands for her not to perform… I wouldn’t be surprised if some day she’ll wear the jilbab too.

I had a funny dream about them one uping each other.

Ani Yudhoyono will throw on an abaya, then call Mufidah a jilbab wearing slut
so Mufidah will go full niqab, to which Mrs. Ani will don a burka.
Eventually Mufidah Kalla will come out dressed in a scale replica of the ka’ba (with 2 eye holes cut out in the front, of course) to be crowned most pious…..
Ani Yudhoyono will finally win the title after borrowing that invisibility camouflage suit from The Predator.

Now that’s what I call pious

I did like Obama speech (and I am no supporter) where he said (paraphrase)

“too many people measure their devotion to their religion by the way they disrespect others”

I would love to see her doing the goyang ngebor wearing a jilbab.

jilbab is the identity of a Muslimah. Hijab should indeed be an indication of how law abiding person against their religion. But now many people use the veil to particular interests. Because of that veil can not be used as indicators of one’s faith. There was a woman who wear veils when she committed the theft at the supermarket just because she wanted not suspected, because many people consider veiled woman is a good woman. There are also sex workers (in their everyday wear hijab) just to cover the decay behavior. But it can not be denied, it is only an exception, all depending on each individual. So to see the faith must be viewed from many aspects, not only from religious attributes that appear.

One hundred jilbabs on Uga does not erase the fact that this man, a Muslim, committed crimes against humanity while donning an Indonesian uniform. This is the empty attachment to paraphernalia that passes for morality in Indonesia’s practice of Islam today.
