Nice piece, Seksi Mr. Patoengs Yth.

What’s your source on the following:

Antasari Azhar was a political appointment to the KPK, heavily supported by Golkar, and PDI-P. Sigid Haryo Wibisono, one of his co-defendants in the case, did much lobbying work among parliament members to garner support for Antasari’s nomination as KPK head. Antasari Azhar is not close to president Yudhoyono.

No footnotes on this one as there were a lot of sources and it was just too confusing but….smh, down the bottom.

Some of the police seem to be emphasising the love triangle thing, the threat to publicise Antasari’s supposed affair with the girl, doesn’t quite explain why those big shots are involved and why so much planning and money has gone into it.

    That story is absolutely crazy.

Ahh.. The first scenario makes more sense rather than the second that developed by Indonesian police.

Who’s the creative team hired by the police force? I mean, they must be fired for the lousy, unconvicing love-story they came up with. I can create something better than that (still a love story though). I think it would be more interesting if you can make people to believe that those 2 guys are gays (one of them being bisexual)…, and that girl caused the 100% gay guy furious (jealous). This fits in with the current perception in indonesian people mind: gays are passionate, obsessive lovers, they’d kill for love. I guess that story would sell more, and more convincing.

The case describes the mentality of most government officials in Indonesia. As many people say, Indonesia gets crisis of mentality although Indonesian people have to do religious teaching everyday. The Indonesian high rank officials always search their personal passion such as position and women by using all ways including killing the other people or other bad and irresponsible ways. Maybe anytime God will be angry with this nation by giving natural disasters like earthquake, flood, mount eruption, and drought.

So what do you think, Patung ?

I personally would look on the press – foreign and domestic – with a skeptical eye, except if they’re reporting theories. There’s actually very limited appetite for the real facts in places

like Australia, as you know. As for the Indonesian press, well, a very blunt instrument. Hearing that Antasari got slugged by a cop makes me very suspicious, and inclined towards the frame-up. Antasari had a good rep when he was at the Jaksa Agung — I heard he lived very modestly.

It’s very peculiar – I think I overplayed the Golkar cover up corruption angle in the post, which is a very contorted one, turns out Sigid Haryo Wibisono although he was once a Golkar man in Central Java is now a PKB man, Gus Dur version. Here he is

I try to, as you put it once, boil it all down, analysis is meant to be left to clever fellows like you, so I am primarily looking at the press, and there it is all about the girl, that Nasruddin was blackmailing Antasari, that he maybe had photos/video of Antasari and girl together in rm 85 I think of the Gran Mahakam hotel. But I agree the press here can be very dodgy, Detik last night was running entirely contradictory stories about all of this within minutes of one another.- He confessed….oops no he didn’t….

The full sms he was supposed to have sent was “sorry, this is just a personal problem between the two of us, if it gets blown up you know what the consequences will be”. Pretty dumb of him to send a sms threatening murder if that was what was planned though.

If it’s a frame up it is one hell of a massive and elaborate attempt, and to blow someone’s brains out for it, and tomorrow there will be a new KPK head and I don’t see any let up there.

I don’t believe, if Antasari is real intelectual dande for case murder of Nasarudin.
How we can make this man in high position but not have good character uhhhh.

It’s all very strange. Could it be discredit the KPK whose mandate is up for renewal this year?

Remember former AG Mr. Baharuddin Lopa? He was very clean and died in Saudi, supposedly of natural causes although I suspected some Munir orange ‘n’ hemlock juice.

    Seksi Mr. Patoengs Yth.,

Seems odd he would send an SMS announcing the murder. Can’t help thinking blackmail or a frame-up. But I’m sure the upstanding and incorruptible POLRI will get to the bottom of it.

I am afraid this incident – if Antasari were innocent – could lead to intimidation to KPK rather than discrediting the organ…

Don’t underestimate hubris when it comes to men in positions of power. Especially if–as the post implies–that’s coupled with an obsessive sexual infatuation.

However, I think it’s also important not to pronounce the guy guilty based on some allegations and an SMS. It could be a frame-up.

There is a saying in Indonesian, “Jatuhnya laki-laki adalah karena harta, tahta dan wanita“, ( the fall of a man is because of money, power and women).
Antasari might be proven not guilty of harta and wanita later on, but he fell because of tahta (power).
Because of his success’ so far he felt the power rush and forgot to watch his back and being careless and disrespectful to some.

Hence another saying apply, “Semua bisa diatur” (Anything can be arrange). Your rise and fall can be arranged. That is Indonesia, it is complicated. Back room dealing is very important, not necessarily money or corruption but simple “kulonuwun” or “permisi numpang lewat” is important. Or else you’ll be disrespecting “para sesepuh” or the “dalangs” and for sure they’ll arrange your fall.

    Salam.

The case has all the makings necessary for a juicy trial.

The love triangle is an interesting one. I guess for Rani this is one way of becoming a celebrity. Although, Lairedion might have a point about her safety.

I guess time will tell as this plays out, who is right and who is wrong on all fronts.

For the conspiracy theory angle, some people like Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) are saying he was set up because the KPK was going to investigate the electoral commission (KPU), which sorta ties in with

Heri Santosa (driver) & Daniel Daen’s (gunman) lawyers claim they carried out the act because they were persuaded to view Zulkarnaen as an enemy of the state, because he was said to be plotting to ruin the 2009 national elections.

The policeman, Williardi Wizar, or even Wizard, used to be chief of police of Kupang, NTT, which might explain why a lot of the foot soldiers in the killing were from NTT.

This is a mosque named after Wizar in Jakarta, wonder if they’ll change the name now….

It’s called Masjid Nur Abu Wizar, next to Polres, Jalan Wijaya, Kebayoran Baru.

Formerly I respect to antasari and his dedication to this country exactly as the hero.
I hope god will make clear in this case.
