True. The amount of silly quizzes taken by Indonesians in Facebook is staggering… :-?

The stats are misleading. There are a lot more time wasters in India and China, but they use sites that are not popular in the Western countries. In India, Orkut is more popular than facebook. The Chinese have their own services. But still pretty impressive.

    Ingkang mbakyu FMF,

Yes, it is great but every time I log in I have to hit the ignore button a couple of times to discard all those invitations and quiz requests I receive from the Indonesians in my network. :-)

So it’s pretty much in line with the topic of this thread. :-)

    Yeah…
There are more than 200 requests I haven’t response yet in my requests box…. and I’ll ignore them when I have time…

Anyway, the positive thing I got from Facebook is I found my old friends from pre-school, kindergarten until University, even my ex neighbors… and also my cousins I never met… :-)

    rightey… rightey…
that’s why everytime cellphone manufacturers market their new hi-tech products, Indonesia most of the time being at the top of the list…
for the similar reason… technology here is about anything on one’s hand nothing to do with one’s head, duh!!! the head is still the same eventhough we indonesian wear clothes that can connect to the internet and in the same time do some quantum physics calculation whatever…
Do u all know that most western cafes in indonesia have “ayam goreng” as best seller?
    wonder why… well, u got the point…

Apparently some clerics are also worried with Indonesian’s behaviour on Facebook.

Indonesian clerics want rules for Facebook

Muslim clerics are…saying the…Facebook could encourage illicit sex

All this time I wasted my precious time on Facebook and not finding the right button to click.

Has anybody found that button? If I get that button, for sure, I won’t click “Ignore”. Can anyone tell me which button to click to get that illicit sex. I wanna! I wanna! I wanna!

Or is it a special button known only to the muslim clerics? What the muslim clerics want, I think, is a Facebook that encourage kawin siri.

True astrajingga, I can’t find that button either…..But you know i’m quite sure that these muslims aren’t doing it cos if they were they wouldn’t be such miserable ****s would they.

    What interests me is:

    - How does Indonesia compare to other countries per capita? (As you said, Being the 4th most populous country does tend to distort the numbers a little).

    - What about a comparison of rates as a proportion of total Indonesian Internet users? (It says there are 25 million in the article above).

    Can that be done?

This is by share of population – http://www.nickburcher.com/2009/04/facebook-usage-statistics-by-population.html although Indonesia is not in the list. For Indonesia I think it’s just under one million facebook users.

No wonderIndonesian becomes so unproductiv, if these people a wasting time at IM or elsewhere.

But guress not becaus there is a population exploding elsewere in Indonesia where people do is just to push the right buton and the population increases..

Well without the lights on who cares anyway.

I think Patung can’t even be botheres.

By the year 2050 the Indonesian population mgiht increase to somewhere around 350 million may be. Another 100 million of potential Islamic followers.

Interesting update in The Jakarta Post (East Java editon) on Monday 14/9:

    Facebook Blocked for Government Employees

The Surabaya municipal administration has blocked civil servants from accessing the top social networking websites Facebook, Friendster and instant messaging tool Yahoo Messenger, blaming the Internet sites for a decline in performance.

In the article, social networking sites are blamed for:
    - slowing Internet access of the Government network.
    - reducing employee performance as a result of spending too much on their time on FB.
    - overloading bandwidth, preventing CCTV traffic cameras from being displayed properly in the Surabaya Area Traffic Control System room.
    - AND increasing the level of divorce among city employees, as a result of love affairs initiated on the social sites.
