I think other qualifications are needed to be a minister of health than such to be a cardiologist able to confirm the diagnosis of tako-tsubo syndrome.

Even if this article reported accurately, her words were carefully arranged. Otherwise, it can be used as a law suit against her. Sensitive atmosphere here hmm … but she is not George Bush anyway. As about other qualifications, beyond my knowledge to give rating. Consult her lecturers perhaps.

nice list of awards. I think we should differentiate between reputation according to awards one got and reputation according to daily work.

As a representative of a country she shouldn’t give any statement without proof like this:
“I’m not sure whether the virus was genetically engineered but it’s a possibility”
It sounds like if I suggest that I’m not sure whether the apocalypse will happen in 20 years or 20 months. It sounds really like paranoia.

In what way, exactly? One of the things about George W. Bush is that he has excellent qualifications: graduated from Yale, Harvard Business School, was CEO of several companies, governor of Texas, etc.

On paper, he looks like a great candidate for president. But we know the reality. So actually, you stumbled on a comparison that tells us exactly why qualifications are of limited value.

For someone who majors in cardiology, she says and assumes a bit too much about genetic engineering. I’m sorry… but if she has any degree or major publication about molecular biology then maybe I would believe her a little. Because from my point of view, natural mutations is more likely to happen rather than a successful genetic manipulation. And for the record, I AM a DNA technology student.

To create a deadly virus as a mass murder weapon… you will need like, years of research and a lot of money. AND, I personally would not pick an influenza virus, because that’s just stupid.

Three reasons are good enough:
1) it has a very high degree of mutation, so it will make it an unpredictable test subject.
2) it’s spread through the air and more likely to be pandemic, I wouldn’t want my virus to backfire at myself wouldn’t I?
3) Only smart people knows how hard (almost impossible) it is to create a medicine for influenza because of its rapid mutation.

But she is clearly different from G.W. Bush on:

… the way he confidently told people there was an omni-potent terrorist called Osama hiding at Afghanistan, the way people believed on it, and the way he organized terror campaign over the country.
… the way he ever believes and told people Iraq ever had misterious alien weapons need to be destroyed, the way people believed on it, and the way he organized mass murdering to the people of Iraq, and the way he found nothing upon the destroyed country.

Did he need evidences to call other country axis of evil, didn’t he? Has scientists conduct a single research about ‘evil’?

Lately, even Obama still believe strongly on the myth as justification to occupation upon Afghanistan, talking blah blah .. with no evidences but anonymous video recordings.

As an addition to her professional records as cardiolog, she is just a bit heroic. People would support her for the essence of her struggle. Transparency upon WHO data is a good thing. Justice is good thing, too.

150 scientific works is a huge list, but I agree someone may has weakness on certain fields, such as on diplomatic things. Reminds me to old sayings: no body is perfect.

Different nations, with different mindset, …, different way in treating pig:

- In afghanistan: they lock up the only pig in the country, for fear of… everything: Encierran a único cerdo en Afganistán.

- In china: they made the pig who survived the earthquake a hero, and named it zhu jianqiang (strong willing pig), and treat it like celebrity : Strong Willed Pig in the time of swine flu: doing just fine, thanks for asking!

And oh ya, g_d d@mned israelis wanted to rename the flu to “mexican flu”, just because pig is considered non-kosher by the jews. Thank’s sang hyang widhi, some level-headed people in WHO, whose mind is not corrupted by abrahamic mumbo-jumbo came up with a more appropriate, inoffensive name.

H1N1 was only found recently and yet there are people speculating it’s past that does not exist. I guess people a making fun of that because it concern poultry especially pigs.

There are claims that the Chinese make THE pig a hero and people thinking H1NI comes from bule country.

I thought the first report ame from Mexico and ye people making funs gt blinded in 1 eye filled with sarcasm. Not only that there are also those ere that tend to make it a political issue.

I wonder why? Perhaps there might be another flu coming involving aircrafts plunging into the sea and polutting those seafood. By that time what would people call that flu.

Has it occurred to this woman that the H1N1 virus is thriving in most Central American countries, such as Panama, El Salvador and Nicaragua which, being near the equator, are just as tropical as Indonesia? I have been to Mexican Yucatan Peninsula and I can assure her that it, too, was hot and tropical as anywhere in Asia. Obviously, geography is not her strong suit.

We have seen a major increase in news coverage here in Minnesota. Seems a lot of suspect cases are sprouting up everywhere. A pig and the State Fair has been confirmed of carrying H1n1.

I just purchased procedure masks with a universal (mask/respirator) seal for me and my employees.

Going to keep my ear to the ground! Hopefully things get better.
