Sure, websites like this can help a bit. But moral outrage is only a starting point. There are certain people who get a thrill out of outrage towards, corrupt, evil institutions, feeling it enforces their own moral superiority. Such attitudes can help mobilize action, but don’t of themselves explain the problem at hand.

As constitutions go, I think the U.S. one is elegant, relatively succinct and emotionally stirring. Gotta hand it to those Founding Fathers, especially George Washington, reputed to be a bit of a pot smoker. I prefer the preamble to the declaration of independence and the Gettysburg Address, but the U.S. constitution is some cool shit. Wouldn’t work everywhere, though. Other nations will have to tap into the creativity Bung Washington was trying to induce when he called for the separation of male and female plants and to “sew the Indian hemp everywhere.”

This too, appears to be addressing the whole (or is it holistic) issue of corruption, whereas the orginal point Assmad brought up is one that bedevils me as well. I can understand the local copper taking his “cut” in traffic “fines” or dodgy licences etc or the public official skimming the local road contract. I can understand how someone getting paid squat with no chance of promotion bar “contacts” could justify it to himself as “victimless” and why shouldn’t I get in for my cut.
Where I come to grief is how do they justify it to themselves when it comes to turning a blind eye to child abuse, human trafficing, stealing food aid etc. There are always bastards in the world but for level of such crimes to occur in Indonesia means there some sort of mass delusion going on or what?
It would be very interesting to have a chat with a senior police official and see what he says if really pressed (although not likely to happen of course).
The religion issue comes into as well from a outsiders view..If some of these so called pious bastards really are believers..then with their history..are they not terrified..I can think of one presidental candidate that must be fairly sh*tting himself about judgement day.

Life is not about economical sense only but it involves many thing such as social sense, sex sense, and spiritually sense and so on… yes… the western country has economic advantage over the third world although those economic advantage was mostly acquired through pillage the wealth of the third world people, unfortunately, those advantage does not mean much, because, the west have failed to produce anything positive for mankind welfare and environment, instead the west has become the worst offender humanity and nature harmony, their economic advantage has produce nothing except the excessive natural resources exploitation and consumption and wide spread genital dieses around the globe and now, it become even worsening because the west has become best breeding center of pedophile.
OK lets just see what sort of a future third world country’s will have, when the massive aid from the west dries up, that should be an interesting scenario.
The west aid is not more and not lest than silently stole from us billion dollar and return to us few cent dollar with Big Advertisement

Wow..One from straight out the Christian Rights handbook that one, personally I would say the opposite. Rampant over-breeding may well be the undoing of us all. Although Schmers..it does prove the point that it is not a mosque thing or a church thing more just a “bastards” thing, there is just as much human trafficing going on it Catholic East Timor as there is here (% wise).
The interesting issue to me is how any “true believer” (of any format) justifies acting in such an way that creates such victims. From a unbelievers point of view it is a curious piece of double delusion, eithier judgement day ain’t coming or I have managed to convince myself that the big guy aint watching all the time, not really compatiable pieces of logic for a believer one would think?
Although I agree with Patung that there much you can do about it.. I point I was trying to make (and dare I say it Assmad and he is no normal friend of mine) it would be interesting to hear someone how such a stance is justified if only from a human condition point of view.

Aliens? what I’m getting at is that it is the peoples who have abandoned their gods and their tribes who seem to have given up the ghost and like I said can’t even be bothered breeding anymore. In Europe the average fertility rates for southern and eastern European countries are sub 1.5 = suicide, in western Europe it is a little higher but still sub replacement level – the governments of those countries are generally aware of the problem and trying to deal with it which you would have noticed from the Der Spiegel article I linked to….so it’s a commonly understood problem, it’s not about arguing for over-breeding it’s about survival of peoples, cultures, and languages – 100 years from now there will be no more Estonians, Ukrainains, and after them the Russians and Italians will be gone – the causes of it are what’s interesting….I’m suggesting it’s due to lack or loss of religious belief and tribal/ethnic group identity, ie will to live. But others see it as an economic problem, caused by the high costs of having children in advanced societies, I’m open that argument as well….

Civilizations come, develop, die off and are replaced by new ones. In the grand scheme of things it has always been like this and it probably is the way it is meant to be. Shiva at work, destruction followed by renewal, the way nature works. In the process however new insights are created that are passed on from one generation or civilization to the next. Those that didn’t stand the test of time are discarded. The valuable ones remain and form the basis for future developments.
That’s how evolution works. The process is important, the content is only secondary. Civilizations, let alone its members, aren’t indispensable. After having done their thing they disappear or self-destruct. They are nothing more than a stage in the pursuit of the Unknown. -

L, so the governments of western Europe are Nazi because they are concerned about the lack of fertility in their countries? – you can think about in economic terms if you don’t like the ’survival’ stuff. Weak tax base, too many old, unproductive people, political resistance to immigration, and all that, which is of course how the governments do think about it, but it boils down to the same thing…whether physical survival, or economic, it’s much the same.
