   my very first concert ever was van halen with ted nugent’s old band st. paradise in 1979, i was 14 years old. i knew nugent was kinda weird, now i know he’s insane…

   It disappoints me that people take statements by celebrities seriously. It could be seen as harmless behaviour, but it is not. There are naive and superficial people who actually think someone’s views on matters diverse as; the environment, human rights and science, are worth listening to, simply because they can sing or act in an entertaining fashion.

   A good example is the ban on DDT which received celebrity endorsement helping it (the ban) become a popular cause. The movement was supported by scientifically unsound research and faulty conclusions.

   The results of this celebrity endorsed ban are millions-upon-millions of preventable deaths by Malaria. An issue for Indonesia.

   None of this prevents me from enjoying Ted’s music. I can even bring myself to overcome my loathing to enjoy a few of Bonos tunes, that smug self-righteous prat.

   Today’s Update:

   Ted Nugent met with the U.S. Secret Service in Oklahoma on Thursday to discuss his controversial comments about President Barack Obama–and the agency says the issue has been “resolved.”

   “The Secret Service interview of Ted Nugent has been completed,” Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary told Yahoo News. “The issue has been resolved. The Secret Service does not anticipate any further action.”

   I wonder if BIN (Indonesia’s Spy Agency) will meet with Ted too and resolve that issue?

   Don’t fret BK, guns only tend to be dangerous when the “authorities” have them.

   So don’t worry your precious liberal head about the nasty guns BK. Guitar strumming conservatives are unlikely to come and shoot you. I don’t think old Ted is much of a threat to Barry either, so the thought/speech police can chill out and listen to a song (with a hooker in one hand and a beer in the other)

   I’m kinda surprised that Ted has heard of Indonesia. Actually, I’m surprised that Indonesia has heard of Ted!

   He’s an amazing guitarist. And a nutcase. But hey, that’s rock’n'roll!

   However, as many of Mr Nugent’s fans are also conservatives and Republican supporters, it is unlikely he will lose popular support or radio airplay… unlike critics of previous president George W Bush, country musicians The Dixie Chicks.

   Army dumps Nugent from concert after Obama remarks

   The U.S. Army cut rock musician and gun-rights advocate Ted Nugent from a summer concert program at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on the same day he met with two U.S. Secret Service agents over recent comments he made about President Barack Obama.

   Nugent was scheduled to perform on June 23, but officials at Fort Knox said on Thursday the singer and guitarist would not be in the lineup with co-headliners REO Speedwagon and Styx.

   “After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation,” the Fort Knox family and morale, welfare and recreation group said on its Facebook page.

    To my knowledge, no radio stations banned Ted Nugent because there are no rock stations – or at least none that played Ted Nugent.

    But now Justin Bieber is being banned for an “insulting” remark about Indonesia:

    Indonesian radio bans Bieber’s songs over ‘insult’

    A local teenage radio station in Medan, North Sumatra, Kiss 105 FM, banned Justin Bieber’s songs as a protest against the teenage pop sensation’s remarks on Indonesia that sparked strong reactions from his fans – known as Beliebers – in the country.
    The British tabloid, the Daily Mirror, reported that Bieber recently “mocked the English accent, insulted Indonesia and threw a hissy fit,” when in London to premiere his new album, Believe.
    During the event, Bieber told an interviewer about the creative process for one of his new tracks, saying it was recorded in some “random country”. His manager, Scott “Scooter” Braun, interrupted and informed him it was produced in Indonesia.
    “His tone was very condescending and he is just a 19-year-old boy. This is a country with more than 200 million citizens,” Kiss FM executive producer Anggi Simanjuntak told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
    Anggi said that the policy was apparently supported by heartbroken radio listeners. “Some of them stopped following or even blocked Bieber’s twitter account from their timelines,” she said.
    A Kiss FM announcer, Bea Lubis, said that she would probably cancel the ban, “if Bieber apologized in a sweet manner and promised not to say such things about Indonesia again.”
    Anggi said that the radio had yet to decide how long it would impose the ban. (asa)
