Well it’s been like the competition to get the Olympic Games for a city, full of waste of money allegations, etc, and legal threats. Some are complaining it will be a catastrophe for the island in eco terms, what with all extra boots treading all over the place.

That organisation, their next competition is the New 7 Wonders – Cities, you can nominate Jakarta here

It’s called progress and development. Next the Komodo dragons will be fed hamburgers.

You never know, what with all the extra tourists the area might even get a HOSPITAL.

    Yes, I’m serious:
Labuan Bajo in dire need of hospital

    You can nominate Jakarta here…

Alternately, someone could nominate Ubud; it has form as the top city in Asia.

The NTB province/Bima regency governments should really be doing more to get in on the act, and promoting Sape as an alternative access point for Komodo, with Bima as air-arrival point (a bigger airport, one less prone to having cows wander onto it, than LBJ)

Labuanbajo, which used to be a charmingly sleepy spot with some decent value accomodation, is currently struggling under the weight of its sudden increase in popularity…

They should quickly re-establish the daily gore fest, of the tethered goats presented to the Dragons, before its on the nomination list for ‘The Worlds 7 Most Boring Spectacles’.

No, please. Forget about Ubud. We don’t need any accolades, penghargaan, awards, etc. They will only further ruin the place.

Those who voted for Komodo may have dealt the place a fatal blow. Once the hand of the Indonesian state touches it, it will become tainted with corruption, the trees will be cut down, the dragons served for meat in the McDragon Sandwich. If Komodo (and Rinca) are to remain what they are, they need less rather than more national and internationa “attention”.
