As to ‘manak salah’ the issue of incest or playing doctor in the womb is a smokescreen pretending only twins of the lower caste commit such vile acts while those of the bangsawan are already in their fetal state above such abominable behaviour. But as even the parents are punished the real issue here is something entirely different. Manak salah is supposed to be an act of impudence, of – even involuntarily – putting oneself on a par with the nobility for whom having twins of different gender is considered a godsend blessing.
In the end it all boils down to hantam kromo and “keepin’ the niggers down”.
