Well, in my humble opinion, Indonesia has reason not to recognize Kosovo statehood. There still exist some separatist groups in Maluku and Irian Jaya. How if Kosovo statehood has domino effect in Indonesia? Indonesia’s case is almost the same with Russia, China, and Spain.

Politics makes strange bedfellows. Indonesia on the same side as Russia, China and Israel; the US and UK on the side side as Iran…

Indeed, now we see Muslims from Kosovo expressing gratitude to the US for supporting and acknowledging their independence and at the same time Serbian Orthodox Christians burning US flags and looting the US Embassy in Belgrade…. :???:

    I second Yuki Tobing.

Hajriyanto Y. Thohari uses his own criteria to draw his conclusion. He probably doesn’t realize that his very criteria, if applied to our own situation, would result in disintegration.
Jeffrey Massie’s opinion sounds logical, but he lacks the bigger picture.

“In politics, right or wrong depends on which side you’re on.”

It kind of discredits a clash of civilizations perspective in favor of the old goodie “all politics is local” (former U.S. Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill).

Besides, religion in the Balkans is a different beast to what it is in Indonesia. When it plays a role in conflict, it tends to be as a marker of national/ethnic identity and little more.

More reason why sudan should not accept any internatioal peace keepers in darfur.

Yeah, peacekeepers kind of get in the way of successful genocide efforts.
