Isn’t it a bit ironic that the MUI is looking for ways to promote religious harmony? These are the same guys who declared that interfaith marriages were taboo, inter-prayer sessions could only be led by Muslims, ahmadiyahs were deviants etc…, etc.
Perhaps the best thing to do to promote interfaith harmony would be to disband the MUI and their divisive fatwas.
I find it interesting that Golkar is trying to style itself as a ‘nationalist-religious party’. Not even 10 years after parties were allowed to be openly formed we already have pretty much all of them being more or less the same now. Golkar is ‘religious nationalist’, I read a few days ago that PKS is styling itself as ‘religious nationalist’, the Democrat party has from the start used ‘nationalist religious’ as its calling card, and even a party previously associated with the ‘left’, the PDIP, has created the Baital Muslimin to try and win Muslim votes.
With so many parties moving to the center one has to wonder whether there will be enough votes to go around.
