This is not made up to slander, I know it first hand. What is being used is hypnotism, witchcraft, and shamanism.

He hoped that the assembled clerics would pray to stop the effects of the voodoo and black magic rites and spells.

Black magic is an intriguing and important aspect of Javanese culture which provides hope, solace, healing and a sense of meaning for people in these uncertain and irrational times.

Good the see that when push comes to shove the true Indonesian culture over-rides islam.

I’m not sure I want to have a governor who quickly points to black magic whenever things aren’t going his way…

We should wonder whether the candidates have employed foreign consultants so voters can differentiate between logical and black magic.

You shoud watch out. My neighbour once accepted vote money, but forgot to vote as supposed to. The night after that, his house smelled to kemenyan. In the morning they fond a scrap of white cloth (like the material people use to cover a deceased body for burial) on their fence near the window of their bed room. My neighbor immediately called for a dukun to neutralize the black magic. I bet that costed him triple the money he got.

Santet, teluh, etc are part of the Indonesian culture, not just the Javanese. People knows, understands, and can easily connects whenever someone mention any stories related with the practice of black magic.

Funny thing is people who boasts that they don’t believe on such a thing, actually went to kyai or dukun on the first sign of attack.
