April 24th, 2007 at 12:58 pmActually I support the move “no porn played on public” move. Showing porn without being balanced by proper education will bring negative influence, imho.
The police did well too, in my opinion, responded well to the rumors and take action immediately. But whether they are as responsive to other important matters is another thing, and I’d like not to discuss about that.
What slightly tickles me is that they confiscate the house music DVD/CD with sexy dancers. I think we can find such scenes shown nationwide on public television, am I right? So what’s wrong with that? Can they differentiate porn and no porn? Of course there are better things to show, such as animal documentaries, football goals, romatic musics, etc, but house music with dancers are still within the boundary, for me. The verbal warning is the right approach in this case and I applaud the police for not dragging the driver to friday prayers and start whipping his a**.
Janma: it’s not that we lost energy, but this news is not so controversial and thus attract little response… until a guy come up with a controversial one, of course… but I hope that guy is not me =p hahaha.

Most things are religious-related stuff, ‘actions’ affecting moral, porn, bribe, bla di bla…yawn. Will Indonesia ever learn that they need to focus on other things if they wanna go forward?

April 26th, 2007 at 10:07 amThey should confiscate all movies, the copyright law prohibits them to be shown in public places anyway. When you purchase a “legal” movie, you can only use it for your own private use, when you use it to attarct customers then you are already againt the law.
But regardless, these people are just small fish making a living, the police should be concentrating more on the big fish, I bet you they have no “balls” to confiscate anything from the rich and powerful.

Did you ever consider paying a visit a to, let’s say, Amsterdam? You can visit the Red Light district over there. For you it will probably a dream come true. You can find all the porn there you need, probably also those featuring “generous endowments in the seat-cushion area”. Maybe this way you can satisfy you craving for Swedish and Dutch women.

The purchaser of any type of film might have voluntarily accepted a “contract” prohibiting public exhibition of the material they had to spend resources and labor to create. If the bus is a privately owned one, and the passengers are aware that such material may be exhibited, then they can act as a consumer in a free market and CHOOSE not to be a passenger ( customer)! It is not the duty of the US government, or any private citizen, to try to impose the culture and standards of a once free country upon a foreign government. We should think about governing ourselves. SO, my opinion is another useless one which will have no point anyway.

My reaction here has nothing to do with the pros and cons of pornography, but this is about Indonesia and what has Indonesia to do with the 1st amendment? How come so many Yanks have difficulties understanding that their laws and paradigms aren’t per definition applicable to the rest of the world? Keep your 1st amendment between Miami and Seattle and let other nations take care of their own.

Don’t be small-minded. Why should it matter where the system comes from. If u think it’d fit, why not? Even though to generalize the US citizens as educated is not really doable to back my opinion, still, to actually be able to implement that amendment right now in Indonesia is not quite the right idea. Ah what bullshit, we’ve got no speedy internet but we’ve got all those pirated movies laying around. It’s already 1st amendment here just trickier to carry out :p
