Just when you thought it was safe to go to the bookstore. Where did this guy come from? He’s got issues!

In all of this Dinesh D’Souza hopes for a global alliance between American Christian conservatism, and orthodox, conservative Islam.

    Now that’s a scary thought!

I also like this description of America

a shining beacon of global depravity, a kind of Gomorrah on a Hill

Gomorrah on a Hill. Could be a good name for a nightclub don’t you think? I don’t think Muslims have an issue with American morality. A lot of students from the middle east study in the US. Would their parents sent them to “Gomorrah on the hill”. Don’t think so. Nope, Mulsims have issues with what they see as American interference in their political sphere of influence namely Iraq, Afganistan, Israel etc., etc.

Strangely enough it was an American government that espouses “traditional moral values” that put the Americans into the political quagmire fomerly known as Iraq. The title of the book is also a bit strange – at least to me. Blaming the political and cultural left for 911? After all wasn’t it the same traditional moral regime which ignored all warnings from their own secret service regarding the 911 bombers – then used the 911 bombers to pusue their own agenda of instilling fear in to their own population in order to pass draconian legislation such as the patriot act?

I know I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but this title has spin-doctor written all over it.

    Conservatives will love it.

    Cheers

Though not one who fully agrees with D Souza but as one who has followed the blog world on its views of Sayyid Qutb, D’Souza’s discussion of him and his take on this character is interesting. You may be interested in visiting a blog that explores the totality of Qutb and Islam in the form of considered essays.

Tariq Ramadan has often been touted as the Islamic Luther who will crap over Islamists and save the Western world. However a reading of his English written books indicate that he is more like his grandfathers co mentor Sayyid Qutb but a little more suave. I have begun a study to compare the two and hope to have something available at the end of the year

    Enjoy

Nice article! I’m not really sure whether to support or to be against Dinesh, but as a moslem I think I have to agree that this guy is pretty fair. It’s true, of course, that Islam has all the answer (we don’t have to argue about that) but again it’s such a shame that we moslems are not capable of knowing this great religion deeper. But, who knows, as this world is always going up and down maybe it’s the time for Islam to be “left behind” and eventually the real “Gomorrah” is burned down. Who knows? You guys might wanna check my article: “Umat Muslim adalah Umat yang Bodoh” at http://guebukanmonyet.com/2007/03/15/umat-Muslim-adalah-umat-yang-bodoh/

Answers but wrong answers. It is this that is worrying.
